What is the proper way to use an oven thermometer?
I have a gas oven and I do not think the dial is calibrated correctly. |

For a correct reading place the thermometer on a shelf set at the oven's center position. >I have a gas oven and I do not think the dial is calibrated correctly. Take thermometer readings at various settings before attempting to recalibrate... if the temperature varies wildly you may need a new thermostat.... if the temperature is off by the same amount at each setting then recalibrate a little at a time, this can take quite a while depending on how fussy you are. With older stoves the calibration adjusting screw is usually inside the stem of the temperature dial, pull off the dial and look inside with a flashlight. You will need a jewelers screwdriver, adjust one quarter turn at a time. For stoves with electronic readouts you will probably need to contact the manufacturer to get the code. ---= BOYCOTT FRANCE (belgium) GERMANY--SPAIN =--- ---= Move UNITED NATIONS To Paris =--- ********* "Life would be devoid of all meaning were it without tribulation."
