Will the deck be in the shade at all at any time during the day? Since I
hate broiling and toiling in the sun I'd wait until later in the day to do
that chore if possible.

He can only do it after the roofers are done for safety reasons.
which would be shaded part of the day since that's the east side of
the house.

Then I believe I'd just wait until they finished and gone before finishing
the deck. And since that deck is on the east side of the house, late afternoon
sounds like a perfect time tackle it later in the week.

Nope! Old World Roofing has one leg of one of their trestles on the Deck! I told them it was relatively new pressure treated lumber and they seemed pleased!

I meant because of shit that my slide off the roof or the
scaffolding. No roofer of tile is going to let you hang out under
the edge of the roof while they're working.

You are doing a dance. Two steps forward and two steps back. Looks
better in these pictures than the previous ones even with the numerous
"holidays" you left. Your work looks like high-schooler quality, maybe.

he's painting the deck once again. Just for laffs.

Were they as pleased as when you told them how much money you had
left to spend on the roof?

Yep, they disallowed "lavender" as being against Sunrises and Sunsets! Said it had to be "brown or earth tones"

And it's against the 21st Century "community standards" of lights being shown in the fountain at the Roundabout about 5min east on Natural Bridge! Yellow, green, blue, fuschia! :-)

Why should it?

I know his house isn't like this but it's something that makes me smile.

Because gray is a perfectly serviceable color that is traditional for
porch floors.

Personally, I would have matched one of the browns or tans in the
brick work. The brown he chose is "a swing and a miss".

That is a cute little cottage, and the color scheme is in keeping with
its style.
