Who buys Hormel uncooked bacon? Our grocery store has several kinds. Thick cut? Regular? Jalapeno? Any thoughts?

I buy the kind I like. My preference is thick cut, I'm able to find
other brands though, better.

Try some and see what you like best.

Live a little, buy a package of each and see which you prefer. The
recommendations you get here might not be the flavor or thickness
you prefer.

I still have a pound of Nodine's thick cut in the freezer.
Someday, I might even cook it.

Oh yeah.... Once I thaw it, I could probably throw a strip
against the wall and it would stick. Once cooked, probably
not.

Don't wait too long as bacon doesn't freeze well because of all the
salt... USDA recommends no longer than 90 days or it can spoil and
make you sick... cooked or uncooked bacon doesn't freeze well.

With bacon, I look for thin alternating stripes of lean and fat, and a significant amount of lean on both ends. https://www.shutterstock.com/image-p...ast-1728039484

Hmmmmmmm, I've got several pounds in my freezer and some of those pounds
are two years old if not older. Every time I've grabbed a package and
thawed it and fried/baked it, it turns out like a freshly bought pound of
bacon.

I'm not understanding how a rock hard frozen pound of sliced piggy can
'spoil.'

From that web site, right at the top of the "Home storage of bacon products" table:

"Because freezing keeps food safe indefinitely, recommended storage times are for quality only."

Bacon is kind of tough and chewy. Pork belly is juicy and succulent. It's great! I'll order it in restaurants if it's on the menu.

Beitel, you're an imbecile, bacon never fully freezes in home
freezers, for the same reason highway departments salt roads in
winter.

Well Joan, frozen bacon has killed countless jews and muslims.
That's why they all say its TIAD. They drop dead, like flies
sprayed with arsenic.

I'm not religious or superstitious, but wonder if it's just safer
to torture, then kill and eat dead pig in the old scriptural way,
like Abraham, and that PBUH muslim guy that started yhe islam church .

CUE DRUCE.

Silvar, if it's "just for quality", Popeye gets out on that clause.

That's Popeye Quality.

Hope yoose not next.

Thank you for your kind words.

Here is some data for you.

Do a little math.

Oh, I'll see you your highway department and raise you one polar ice cap.

I keep my freezer at -2 degrees F.

I'm done with this.
