My father always grew a few rows just for the pleasure of eating new
potatoes. He hated them cooked with skins on and would sit and scrape
each tiny spud. When I visited the UK in early summer, he would keep a
couple of plants going until I arrived. I really miss him.

Nice to have good memories of a parent. My father always had a big
enough garden to provide lots of nice fresh vegetables in the summer.
One thing he never had much luck with was corn. When our old dog died
he took her to the back yard and buried her in the section of the garden
where he usually planted corn. When he got back to the house he said
"Maybe that will help the corn to grow next year."

Yes, they will. It was posted to 2 Viet food groups on Facebook and
reached over 20,000 Vietnamese people. And you were the only one to
complain about it. Typical white cracker - telling other races,
cultures, and nationalities how they should be offended <yawn>.

I gave that some thought last night.
For food, I think I really would request lots of McDonald's
plain hamburgers and plenty of salty fries. I do like that
stuff and don't eat it often.

It's not like it will harm me if I'm about to be put to death.

In reality though...assuming I would be put to death
immediately after the meal and not the next day,

I'd probably choose a liquid last meal
a 15-pack of Natural Ice beer.

Potatoes. Mashed, French fries, latkes, potato salad, home fries. Every
which way I could think to have them cooked.

I like ice beer because it's a little bit stronger than regular.
Bud Ice and Natural Ice are about the same but I do like
the flavor of Natural a bit better.

Saw a documentary about Budweiser years ago and they explained
how they make it. They take some of the regular brewed beer
then freeze it at some temperature so some of the water
freezes to a slush and floats to the top. They skim off
the ice (water mostly) leaving a stronger beer.

They also explained how they made Bud Lite. Again regular
beer with carbonated water added to thin it down a bit.

for proof. I didn't have one. I just watched that show
and that's what they said. Might have been a Modern Marvels
documentary.

Nah, I generally just buy the "tried and true" that I like.

I did buy a bottle of a Hawaiian beer once.
It was a micro brew. Loved the label.
It tasted like insecticide. Not good at all.

I did save the empty bottle though.
It's called "Big Wave Golden Ale" produced by
Kona Brewing Co.

Oh good. I found a picture rather than scanning
my empty bottle.

Bud Light isn't wonderful. It's ****ing garbage. You can keep those hopd deficient Belgian beers. Give me a New England Pale.
People drink Budweiser because they're ****ing sheep, and that's what the advertising tells them to drink.

One of the the best beers I ever had was in Belgium. It was on tap in a
restaurant and I regretted not asking what kind it was.

Advertising does seem to be a lot more important to beer sales than
product quality, and a small increase in market share translates to
millions of dollars in profits.

Not everybody likes hops. A little is fine. A lot is nasty. I don't like IPA. It's too bitter.

We don't have to like the same things you do.

There is no more decent beer/ale, for a long time now it's all brewed
in stainless steel. Beers/ales today are as different as formula is
from breast milk on tap.

The New England style pales are low in bitterness.

Budweiser is the beer of fools. I have nothing against swill beer. I've drunk a tanker truck of it over the years. The problem with Budweiser is that is swill beer, but it's priced like it's decent beer. The extra cost pays for the advertising to convince folks that it is a quality product. Milwaukee's Best Light tastes no worse than Bud Light, Miller Lite or Coors Light, so it is foolish to pay more.

When I don't drink beer, I opt for sweet wine. Not Boone's Farm, but nice fruity
wines. This stuff is really tasty.

Missouri is known for good sweet wines. I don't enjoy dry wines unless they
have bubbles. If I were at a bar, which is a rarity, I might order a shot of pricey
liqueur, like Chambord, on the rocks with a spritz of seltzer. We keep Chambord
around for the sole purpose of flavoring whipped cream. Cointreau is also great
for flavoring whipped cream. Talk about a dreamsicle.

Saute cut up carrots in a pan with butter. When done, add a little
