Well Wolfy, it would appear that you were the only one too dense to realize the

Jeez, you're kinda loud. First off, most of what you quoted was written
by Nancy Dooley (Iowa, not Canada); second, it was clear to me that Dave
was writing tongue (fingers?) in cheek with the remark about his brother
said he wouldn't do that.

It's a tragedy any way you look at it and the ripples of sorrow are wide
indeed.

Well, I think that's a fairly narrow minded view of the total picture,
but it's your property and your call obviously. I hope that you don't
get to the point where we are in Dutchess county where you see deer
starving to death or being chased by coyotes or dogs in the winter due
to over population. It's a much more gruesome sight than hunting by
responsible people.

You need to see the entire post to see if you were hoodwinked. Holy shit Wolf. It
was two sentences, a mere 18 word response. It should not have taken more than a few
seconds even if you had to move your lips to read it. I would suggest that even a
moron should be able to see that it was sarcastic, but you would have proved me
wrong.

three lines down.

If it were not for the existing gun regulations, some of the folks would
probably have been wearing sidearms -- so they would not have been
defenseless against the lunatic. As it was, he shot the one guy that
had a rifle, and then the rest were easy pickings.

The ones on the ATV that came to their aid (and were shot) probably left
their rifles and shotguns behind at the cabin because they thought they
were coming to an accidental shooting. If they had had handguns with
them, they might have had a chance.

Guns don't kill people, gun control regulations do.

Vegetarian (Veggie Vegan PETA)
Lacto vegetarians (Dairy and Veggie/Fruit Vegans)
Lacto-ovo vegetarians (Dairy, Veggie and Egg Vegans)
Seventh Day Adventists

Vegetarians with a twist:

Orthodox Jews: Must be kosher
Orthodox Muslims: Must be hilal

Basically the two above, if it's good for one it's good for
the other if there is no other choice.

Wasn't meant to generalize.

I'd trust more in a compass and map, or at least a compass.
Definitely know the principles of a sun cumpass. No compass
or map? Follow streams to where they empty you'll find
civilization.

Then again, unless you're there, it's easy to be an armchair
quarterback.

Ooooh. Mt. Weather, only for the really brave or crazy.

Be prepared for the worst, hope for the best and STILL
prepare for the worst. If I were to thru-hike the AT, I
think I'd steer clear of it, unless it was "my time".

Thick woods, no landmarks and you can get lost, especially
in the south.

The standards vary from area to area... In New Hampshire, you have the
de facto right (hundreds of years of common law) to hike, fish, and
hunt on private property unless it is properly posted, as long as you
are obeying other laws.

I own a patch of rural NH forest (with my house in it), and it's now
posted, ever since I had to talk to a hunter about his lack of common
sense (hunting too close to the house) and he responded with threats
about "having a bigger gun" than I did. Too bad, since most of the
hunters around here are reasonably responsible (and hunters I know
personally I still let hunt on and pass through the land). But when
someone threatens me with a weapon on my own land, I'd rather not have
deal with those issues any more. And I won't think about un-posting
the land, since the response of some of the local hunters is to get
****ed off and tear down the signs...

Ever had one of them shoot you (and your daughter and a bunch of your
other friends and relatives) when you told them to leave? That appears
to be what happened in WI. The landowner was the first one shot by the
tresspasser.
