Default Bagels for Dinner?? Why not? 9/30

I finally got around to making more bagels. I follow Julia's recipe from _Baking_with_Julia_. The "roll the hula-hoop bicycle-style on your thumbs" technique is so much more fun that the "roll out the rope and stick the ends together" technique. :-)

I substituted some molasses for white sugar in the dough to darken it up a bit and did the same for the water bath for no good reason[1]. And of course, I made them all "everything" bagels, my favorite.

By the time I was done, dinnertime was upon us, so I just went with what I had in front of me, along with some smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, sliced red onion, and a mix of cottage cheese, celery slices, celery salt, and chopped parsley. And an egg for a little more protein.

For dinner? Why not?

[1] Trying to simulate New York City water, the only water that's any good for making "real" bagels as every sentient being exposed to this newsgroup knows by now. :-)
