![]() Gosh, the house smells wonderful. I asked my husband what he wanted for dinner and got the usual 'I don't know, whatever you want' I thawed a pound of ground beef just in case I either did or didn't get inspired. I was looking for something easy that didn't take too many pots and pans. Pasta sounded good, Red sauce is easy. Dinner solved. Spaghetti Meat Sauce Janet US 2# ground beef 2 quarts tomatoes 6 ounces tomato paste 1 pint water 4 large cloves garlic 1 large onion, diced 1 teaspoon black pepper (freshly ground) 1 teaspoon sweet basil ¼ teaspoon thyme 1 tablespoon oregano 2 tablespoons sugar 1 tablespoon salt 3-4 bay leaves Janet US |

I hope you made enough to freeze for at least half dozen meals... whenever I make pasta sauce I make lots for freezing....I've got six quarts of pasta sauce in the freezer now from when I made a potful with saw-seege... good with meat-a-balles, ****ghettis, any thing. I always make lots, I detest jarred sauce. Whenever canned maters are on sale I stock up; crushed, whole, diced. I can't see the point of making just enough for one meal, I'll make enough for ten meals to stock the freezer. |

I have everything to do that, I just didn't have the energy to do it recently. Since the pandemic I have had difficulty finding a big can (restaurant size0 can of tomatoes. That's what I always use because that huge can goes for about $2.39, much cheaper than buying the 14 ounce cans. Janet US |

Also a pinch of hot pepper flakes. Instead of ground beef, we brown hot Italian sausage links and then cook them in the sauce. Cindy Hamilton |
