Each grocery delivery from Walmart has been different, so now I don't know
what to count on! I selected delivery between 6-7 pm. I kept checking my phone and computer for an update. The update didn't come until 6. Very annoying because this time I didn't get essential things, so once again, had to place a small order at Safeway and hope they have what I need. They did not have the peppers, celery, cottage cheese, paper towels or the kind of ground beef that I wanted for the peppers. I had ordered some other ground beef so just used a package of that. They did sub yellow peppers for the same price. So I made out well $wise there because yellow peppers cost considerably more. All but one were fine. One had a blemish at the top but I was going to cut the top off anyway. It's just... I really prefer green peppers for stuffed because of the firmer texture. I had tried the other colors in the past as one of my friends said a Costco Employee told her not to use the green. The other colors tasted better. This was the first time my friend ever made stuffed peppers so she had nothing to compare them to. I did try what she said but still prefer the green. Oh well! Looks like what they said on the radio is true for this area. We are having food shortages again. The other strange thing is that I ordered a yellow onion for 38 cents. What I got was a very large sweet onion for 48 cents. I'm not complaining about that. I really wanted a sweet onion but the price was much higher than the yellow. Much higher than the 48 cents I paid. They are in the oven now. They look and smell good. There was a little extra filling, probably because the onion was bigger than I expected. I made 10. Won't have to cook tomorrow! ![]() |

She is of course fabulating about this whole grocery shopping thing, she is just posting to get attention, *none* of what she says about *anything* is true...I'd aver it is a Giant Steaming Combo Plate of mental health issues - I'd guess bipolar at the *very* least - and just general stupidity/learned helplessness. As lagniappe she always plays the perpetually needy "victim" in all of her tall tales... Basically, she apparently sleeps all day and is up all night "playing" on Usenet...she has nothing remotely useful to do with her life...in this latter respect she is in that same rarified company as our other Certified Whack Job, John Kuthe - in both sad cases, rfc is their sole social "connection" to the "outside world"... So Doris, do *not* expect a rational answer to your *very* rational question...she will respond with hundreds/thousands of words of pure gibberish...she's many times more tall tales than even that crafty Arab dame of old Scheherazade...just call it Julie's *Ten* Thousand And One Nights, lol... ;-) -- Best Greg |

Bullshit... if you are short of money you'd not be paying for delivery, grocery delivery prices are always higher than buying directly from the store. You are one person, how much food do you need that you can't drive to the store and place a bag or two of groceries in your car. And you are supposed to keep your pantry filled with non-perishables... and most all non-perishables can be purchased on line and at lower cost than at the local markets... and they are delivered right to your door! Don't you dare try to tell me that UPS doesn't service BotHell. |

Don't you dare try to tell me > that UPS doesn't service BotHell. I didn't say I was short on it. But I'm also not the type to just buy whatever I want, whenever I want. I am one person and so is Justin. I rarely ever go to the store for one or two bags of food, unless it is stuff I can't get elsewhere. If I go to Sprouts, TJ's, Central Market, Whole Foods or just to get wheat grass, then I won't buy much. But at Winco or Walmart? I almost always have a full cart. We've been told to stockpile again as they think there will be an impending food shortage. I have plenty of dried and canned beans, rice, pasta, other canned vegetables and a little fruit. Also extra salt, pepper and other seasonings that we use a lot of. And come canned meat/fish. I just cleaned out one cupboard. There was an old can of soup that I failed to use up in time. It was a Winco brand. I'd had two. I did eat one but got oddly sick after I ate it. I intended to throw the other can out and forgot. Please note, I am not blaming Winco for my getting sick. Sometimes I get sick and never figure out the reason why. I have some canned food coming today. There is ravioli and soup. Not a lot. We don't eat much of that, but I do like to keep some. I do have some chili, chicken and dumplings, chicken ala king, stew and things like that. Again, I don't like to keep a lot of that stuff, but it does come in handy during a power outage. I have a gas water heater, so I can always put a can in a pan of hot water. It won't get hot but it will warm it up. I've learned the hard way not to stockpile frozen food. It's wasteful to lose a whole freezerful of food. I *don't* stockpile bread or produce. It spoils too fast for me to do that. I don't buy bell peppers every week. And I wanted 10 of them to make the stuffed peppers. I don't stockpile meat. We don't eat a lot of meat. And these days, when it comes to meat, I either go without or have to buy what I can find, which is maybe just one package. The last time I was physically in the store, they had sooo much of that fake meat. Impossible or Beyond brands. It was all marked down and it was still more expensive than meat. There's a big push for us to eat that crap and it obviously isn't selling. I am getting deliveries not for convenience sake. They are telling us that we are in another bad wave of Covid and to stay home. So that's what I'm trying to do. Makes it kind of hard though to place an order then not get the items I wanted for a planned meal. This makes me try another store. The way things are, you can not cancel an order for any reason. You just have to take what you can get. |

I have an Amazon Wishlist and I likely won't buy most of what it on it. If I am grocery shopping and see good prices on things that are not on my list, I might buy them. I did *not* buy the Uncle Ben's cooked rice pouches that were next to Nothing. I've watching the price drop. Clearly they bought too many. I bought that stuff when it first came out. But after the one moldy pouch... Nope. I did briefly touch a pack. Seemed hard as a rock. I toyed with the notion that Justin might eat it. Might. Nope. Might is not good enough no matter the price. Didn't buy. I rarely ever pay full price for anything. Dollar Tree is an exception. Heh. |

I prefer green but this is what they sent me. Salt and pepper inside the peppers. Filling was a und of ground beef, 14ish oz can chopped, Italian seasoned tomatoes and maybe 1/4 cup water. The liquid helps break the beef down to smaller pieces. One chopped, large sweet onion. Additional seasonings, salt, pepper, basil, oregano and parsley. Cook and break up until the meat is cooked through and most of the liquid is cooked down. Add the powdery kind of Parmesan in the green can and some cooked, long grain, white rice. I didn't measure but probably used a cup of cheese and 1.5 cups of rice. I cooked them in two baking dishes so I wouldn't have a giant dish in the fridge. Pour red sauce on the bottom of the dishes. Just a little. Add peppers, stuff. Pour the rest of the sauce over. I used two cans of cheap, Hunt's brand with cheese. Bake in a preheated oven. 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. Top with a goodly portion of shredded Mozzarella. Turn oven off and let sit until the cheese is melted. |

I never buy Chef Boyardee spaghetti but the other verities are $1.28 per can at Safeway. I just bought the Overstuffed Ravioli. Normally I get them on sale for 88 cents per can, but I usually have to buy 10 to get that price. I will check the price at Walmart. 88 cents. I do see that Amazon Fresh sells a single can for 88 cents. Great Value tomato sauce is 46 cents at Walmart. In general, I'm not picky about tomato sauce. I do love the Red Pack brand, but it's not available here. |

No matter what product you'll say you don't use it... you are ALL about EMPTY words, NO proof. And Amazon very often shows even lower prices in the store than on line, especially for bulk buying. But I'll play - once. I took the second product listed that I know I can find locally - Muir Glen diced tomatoes. https://www.amazon.com/Muir-Glen-Can.../dp/B000LKZ9KK (Notice the description is wrong - these are 14.5 ounce cans) Those are $1.33/ea PLUS the cost of prime. Plus you have to buy 12 of them to get that price. At my grocery store you only have to buy ONE of them and they're only $1.28/can. https://www.heb.com/product-detail/m...omatoes/305106 ($1.32 is the curbside/delivered price - subtract 3% for in the in-store price) As usual, you failed the challenge as expected [clapping] Let's take the next one one more. > https://www.amazon.com/Goya-Tomato-S.../dp/B000SW2PJ4 $.58/can when you buy 48 of them on Amazon. $.47/can at HEB when you buy ONE of them at HEB, saving you over $5 - MINUS the cost of Amazon Prime. https://www.heb.com/product-detail/g...o-sauce/129082 Oops. Failed again, Mental Midget Pussy Katz! > Dwarf Deluxe Dinners: > https://www.amazon.com/Chef-Boyardee.../dp/B00DOSJ1S2 $1.28/can at Amazon when you buy 24 of them PLUS the cost of Amazon Prime. HEB.... <drum, roll> (I already KNOW the price of these by heart) https://www.heb.com/product-detail/c...atballs/153075 $.88/can when you buy ONE of the !?!?!??! Holy Shit - a savings of over 33%! 3 up 3 down struck out the inning! The score is Sqwertz: 3 Puzzy Katz: A BIG FAT ZERO! -sw |

But you were responding to Julie when you said: "and most all non-perishables can be purchased on line and at lower cost than at the local markets... and they are delivered right to your door! Don't you dare try to tell me that UPS doesn't service BotHell." So Julie's prices ARE relevant to what you claimed. -sw |
