Default Weirdness with Walmart delivery

I am waiting for a Safeway delivery but they canceled some items. So I
looked into getting a delivery from Walmart. Not sure if they have what I
want in stock but they can deliver today.

This time, I ordered from my phone. This time they had wax beans! Can't
remember the brand but a name brand and $1.48 per can. Their brand of canned
lentils was also listed. They were not listed when I looked on the computer.

So... Were these items just totally out of stock so not listed when I tried
to order before? Dunno.

Another weird thing. I've always been able to order up to 6 of each item on
the computer but the phone limited me to 4. Hmmm... Unless maybe the
computer will only give me 4 now.

I ordered two different varieties of the bread. I figure I should at least
get one loaf. *fingers crossed* And yes, I can make my own bread. Just don't
feel like it. Need surgery soon on my eye. Will find out more about that on
Fri.

I drove into town this morning and did my grocery shopping at Tops
Market, got everything I needed and a few items more with no fuss
whatsoever... they had Ronzoni pasta at 10 for $1, got a few kinds.
Why can't you drive to the closest local market to shop??? I order
items on line but only when I want bulk and items by the case... I
can't be bothered to order picyune items for delivery, just causes
grief... you deserve the grief. I do much better picking out my own
produce and meats... but if I want a case of #10 cans of tomatoes that
I'll order on line, comes right to my door, same with bulk cat/bird
food. I don't even want delivery for one schtinkin head of lettuce.
I'll bet our monthly Chewy bill (~$400) is more than your monthly
grocery bill, Julie you are not well, I mean mentally.
We've never considered ordering a loaf of bread on line to be
delivered... perhaps from a local corner bakery.

Popeye, Tops market is certainly the finest store in the universe.
But they don't have a huge chain, so most folks can't enjoy the
bliss of buying there.

Because we're on lockdown and not supposed to leave our house. I am in the
high risk group and due to my impending surgery, I have to be extra careful
not to get sick. So I am avoiding people. I did go to the dentist where
Angela works and also to get my hair trimmed as the general consensus is
that Governor Inslee will put us on further lockdown soon and close those
places. I don't want to have to go months without another haircut.

You are right in that I'm not well, but it's all medical. Not mental.

I tried Chewy once. Too expensive. Wasn't worth it. I get the Target brand
cat litter. I get treats and foods at Walmart. Jazzy only eats dry food.

Things should settle down with the online orders once people stop the
hoarding. Right now, they still are. And due to restrictions on in store
shopping, it's far quicker and easier to have the food delivered. I did make
a quick stop at the bread store last week only because I wasn't having luck
finding bread anywhere else. They didn't have what I wanted, but I did get
some bread and there is still a little bit left.

Chewy's prices are substantially lower than anywhere else, they carry
every major brand with a huge selection of dried, they carry food for
all critters; fish, chickens, horses, gerbils etc., and deliver for
free. Besides foods they carry many critter associated products from
fish tanks, bird cages, feeding bowls, and lots of pet toys. They
carry many brands of cat litter and at lower prices than anywhere
else.

I've not seen any signs of hoarding... for items we buy in quantity we
shop at BJs, they sell cleaning products by the gallon/case... they
sell TP in bulk, all you want. We buy Dawn dish washing liquid in
gallon jugs. We buy in bulk for the cash savings, always costs a lot
less. It's no biggie to refill the small Dawn bottle from the gallon
jug. I still see people buying single rolls of TP... they'd almost do
better wiping with dollar bills.
With all the hand washing recommended I wash my hands with Dawn, does
a very good job and no irritation, I figured if it's good for washing
crude oil from birds I'd try it, works very well, I even use Dawn for
shampoo, costs less than the name brand shampoos and need to use less
than half as much. Actually I now put a few drops of Dawn on my
washcloth and bathe with Dawn, does a great job, lots of lather, and
is very mild... also rinses off much better... at the same time cleans
your tub and no soap film.

My guess is that the first time you ordered, they were out of stock.
Shortly after that, they received a shipment that included those
items, and they scanned the receiving documents into their inventory.

Takes about 5 seconds to go from out of stock to in-stock.

I've heard of BJs. We don't have them here. I hate buying giant sizes of
most things as they are too hard to heft around. I get a case of small
bottles of laundry soap from Boxed. They are the store brand of some big box
store but I couldn't tell you which one. They fit on the skinny cart in my
laundry room.

The reason for the hoarding here is that we are on lockdown. We are not
supposed to leave the house. Some people (younger, no medical problems) are
going to the store but no vey often so they stock up as much as they can. Or
Governor has also said (although not in an official press conference) that
he might shut the grocery stores down and at one point some time ago,
instructed us to stock up on two month's worth of provisions. Then he
wonders why people are hoarding,

BJ's is the same as Costco and Sam's Club.

I went Monday and there was not a paper towel or toilet tissue to be had.

Hoarding started again when the news said it may be in short supply soon
so everyone ran out and bought up. Crazy, no matter how you normally
shop you only crap so much a week so no reason to have a two year supply
on hand.

Paranoid much? That's not going to happen.
Food and medicine are necessities.
Besides, vaccines are approved and on the way soon.

Speaking of hoarding. I went to the grocery store yesterday. As I
entered the store, one woman was leaving the checkout with a basket full
of toilet paper and paper towels. I guess they don't have limits anymore
like a couple of weeks ago.

Anyway, while I was shopping, here was that same woman back in the store
with a new grocery cart buying regular food.

Arrghh Steve. I accidently bought that lavendar scented TP twice and
it's so very nasty. I've learned to look closely at the wrappers.

Count your 21st century blessings, comrades!

https://historycollection.com/the-un...ing-fathers/8/

"8. Hygiene after use of the privy was less than pleasant

What the US Founding Fathers used to clean themselves after using the privy €“ their term for outhouses €“ depended in large part on where they lived. Farmers and those who dwelled in small towns frequently resorted to corn cobs. Their effectiveness can only be imagined. In larger cities people resorted to newspapers, the leaves of books, or more frequently, old rags, which were then tossed into the privy pit. Some contained a rag or sponge on a stick, stored in a basin of water in which each the user rinsed it. Most privies were located outside, in blocks, for use of anyone, while larger homes had their own located in their backyard gardens.

There were indoor facilities in some buildings, small closets which contained a seat installed over a chamber pot. Emptying the pot required the servant allotted the task to carry it to one of the privies outside, though frequently they were simply dumped in the gutters, which also carried the waste of horses, mules, and pigs. The cities in Revolutionary America could be smelled from miles away, and the formerly pristine rivers carried wastes, many of them of the toxic variety, far downstream. Technology for more advanced sanitation and hygiene simply did not exist at the time of the Founding Fathers, who made do with what was available to them. Early in the first administration of George Washington the problem of sanitation in cities rose to the fore among civic leaders across the United States..."

They don't, not that I've ever encountered. We use lavender Fabuloso
for cleaning but do not find the scent in any way offensive... it
smells a lot better than any other toilet cleaners... most toilet
cleanser scents are too medicinal.

Fabuloso is a cleaning product that was originally developed for use
in tropical climates because it killed insects, I don't think it's so
potent anymore, at least not in the US.

Angel Soft makes plain and also lavendar scented TP.
They don't scent the paper, just the cardboard tube in the center. It's
pretty strong and highly annoying.

Those leaves would make some extra nutritious mulch for the garden.

I tried giving mine away. Asked a few neighbors but none were
interested. I hated to just throw them away so I bagged them up and used
one at a time - kept in a bag on back of toilet, not on the roll dispenser.

The second time I accidently bought one, I hadn't opened the package yet
so I took them back to the grocery store with receipt and they let me
exchange for the unscented. whew! ;o

Some papers did that long ago. Maybe that's what I bought. It was something
with a scented roll. My then roommate claimed it gave her an infection.

I should have bought the "Tropical" scent so my ass could smell like

Oh, STFU. Julie even passed on nay-saying it, then you responded to
Julie that it doesn't exist. Sheesh.

It only kills roached and some beetles. It doesn't do shit for
flying insects. It kills roaahed diluted 10 to 1 and in less than 8
seconds flat. With RAID they can still run another 20-40 feet and
twitch for hours. With Fabuloso they don't get more than another 3
inches.

I love the scent of lavender but I don't think I'd like scented TP.
Never did care for printed flowers on toilet paper, either. That was a
"thing" (briefly) back in the day. Don't need pretty flowers printed on
toilet paper, or on paper towels. I digress...

One day shortly after this whole hoarding thing started back in March,
after the TP disappeared from even Walmart shelves, I was at the gas
station convenience store looking for Slim Jims. (kidding!) A thought
popped into my head: I wonder if they have toilet paper? Yep! Cheap,
never heard of brand, four roll packs. Apparently no one ever thinks
about buying TP at a gas station convenience store.

I know you don't watch much television but ads for it are fairly common.
Scenting *everything* has become a "thing". Things like laundry
boosters and air fresheners are being pushed more than ever. No thanks.

Yep, it's the tube. I love the scent of lavender (if it's very light)
but sincerely doubt I'd want that TP. The bathroom space is too
confined. I don't use air fresheners, it's funny to see commercials
with people spraying scent into the air. Or plugging things into wall
sockets. Or automatic scented air sprayers. Good lord, how bad does
your house smell that you have to cover it up with a bunch of artificial
fragrance?

Rhetorical question: what was that roommate doing putting paper in her
ears?

That's very true, Doris. I don't order a lot online but if there is
something I really want I check back a little while later, often times
the item is available again.

It takes a little time for the information to transfer from the
warehouse to the online ordering venue. People are working behind the
scenes at the warehouse to take inventory and mark quantities available
for shipping to who knows how many stores. It's an ongoing process.

Seems no one ever shops those back aisles. Worked out well for me.

I got mine at the Asian grocery store. Even the Asians shop at HEB
for toiletries.
