Then he wonders why people are hoarding, BJ's is the same as Costco and Sam's Club. I went Monday and there was not a paper towel or toilet tissue to be had. Hoarding started again when the news said it may be in short supply soon so everyone ran out and bought up. Crazy, no matter how you normally shop you only crap so much a week so no reason to have a two year supply on hand. |

I accidently bought that lavendar scented TP twice and it's so very nasty. I've learned to look closely at the wrappers. |

They don't, not that I've ever encountered. We use lavender Fabuloso for cleaning but do not find the scent in any way offensive... it smells a lot better than any other toilet cleaners... most toilet cleanser scents are too medicinal. Fabuloso is a cleaning product that was originally developed for use in tropical climates because it killed insects, I don't think it's so potent anymore, at least not in the US. |

I don't use air fresheners, it's funny to see commercials with people spraying scent into the air. Or plugging things into wall sockets. Or automatic scented air sprayers. Good lord, how bad does your house smell that you have to cover it up with a bunch of artificial fragrance? Jill |

Julie even passed on nay-saying it, then you responded to Julie that it doesn't exist. Sheesh. > Fabuloso is a cleaning product that was originally developed for use > in tropical climates because it killed insects, I don't think it's so > potent anymore, at least not in the US. It only kills roached and some beetles. It doesn't do shit for flying insects. It kills roaahed diluted 10 to 1 and in less than 8 seconds flat. With RAID they can still run another 20-40 feet and twitch for hours. With Fabuloso they don't get more than another 3 inches. -sw |

No thanks. it is rather sickening, i can taste it in foods cooked in homes that use them, the scents stick to various surfaces. we've had to take containers to some places if there is enough for leftovers. when we've used anything they have in the cupboards it tastes like it was coated with soap. you go to have some turkey and stuffing the next day and find out you're eating soapy tasting food that used to be excellent. ![]() things like dryer sheets and fabric softeners are really bad, but also a lot of dish detergents can be pretty bad if someone doesn't rinse well enough or their dishwasher doesn't rinse well. *gack* songbird |

Sensible use levels do not bother him though like my scented soaps or his favorite 'Old Spice' shower soap. It's the women (or men!) dousing themselves too heavily that are the issue. |

Count your 21st century blessings, comrades! https://historycollection.com/the-un...ing-fathers/8/ "8. Hygiene after use of the privy was less than pleasant What the US Founding Fathers used to clean themselves after using the privy €“ their term for outhouses €“ depended in large part on where they lived. Farmers and those who dwelled in small towns frequently resorted to corn cobs. Their effectiveness can only be imagined. In larger cities people resorted to newspapers, the leaves of books, or more frequently, old rags, which were then tossed into the privy pit. Some contained a rag or sponge on a stick, stored in a basin of water in which each the user rinsed it. Most privies were located outside, in blocks, for use of anyone, while larger homes had their own located in their backyard gardens. There were indoor facilities in some buildings, small closets which contained a seat installed over a chamber pot. Emptying the pot required the servant allotted the task to carry it to one of the privies outside, though frequently they were simply dumped in the gutters, which also carried the waste of horses, mules, and pigs. The cities in Revolutionary America could be smelled from miles away, and the formerly pristine rivers carried wastes, many of them of the toxic variety, far downstream. Technology for more advanced sanitation and hygiene simply did not exist at the time of the Founding Fathers, who made do with what was available to them. Early in the first administration of George Washington the problem of sanitation in cities rose to the fore among civic leaders across the United States..." |

I tried giving mine away. Asked a few neighbors but none were interested. I hated to just throw them away so I bagged them up and used one at a time - kept in a bag on back of toilet, not on the roll dispenser. The second time I accidently bought one, I hadn't opened the package yet so I took them back to the grocery store with receipt and they let me exchange for the unscented. whew! ;o |

Never did care for printed flowers on toilet paper, either. That was a "thing" (briefly) back in the day. Don't need pretty flowers printed on toilet paper, or on paper towels. I digress... One day shortly after this whole hoarding thing started back in March, after the TP disappeared from even Walmart shelves, I was at the gas station convenience store looking for Slim Jims. (kidding!) A thought popped into my head: I wonder if they have toilet paper? Yep! Cheap, never heard of brand, four roll packs. Apparently no one ever thinks about buying TP at a gas station convenience store. ![]() Jill |

LOL All I know is the big stores and the dollar stores were sold out yet this little Exxon station had many four roll packs. It was cheap, but surprisingly soft. Not a brand I'd ever heard of. Not tons of sheets per roll but hey, it was better than none. Point being, not many people around here thought to look for TP at the gas station. Jill |

The ultimate convenience would be to take a dump(*) at the gas station, use the provided toilet paper (assuming there is some), and take a few squares for at home. A friend of mine with 2 daughters and a wife are into that JIT (Just-In-Time) restocking method, especially with toilet paper. I used to stop at the gas station on the way over to their house to get beer and a 4-roll pack of cheap gas station TP (*) (unrequested). That's where they got all their TP and beer several times a day, too. ObFood: I'm eating an awesome meatball, provolone, romano, and Jimmy John's pickled cherry pepper sandwich after getting my last 28-day round of rabies shots and then shopping at Walmart. I find the rabies shots help before shopping at Walmart. They have the best hogie rolls (as odd as that may seem). (*) if you haven't seen a "single roll" of TP in decades, they've gotten 66% smaller and lighter than the single rolls of the 1980's. And they're 1" narrower and the core cardboard is much bigger in diameter. -sw |
