Default Hot Pot

This was really good!

It started with making a veggie broth which I do most weeks from
various ends and bits from making other meals during the week. Those
are simmered then strained to a deep veggie broth.

From 2 quarts of vegetable broth, reduce by 1/2c or so while simmering
in 2tb dried roasted garlic. Add 1/2ts Korean flake red pepper.

Steam a variety of vegetables and seafoods then add your choices to
your hot soup.

I also have rice at the side and Don added some to the bottom of his
bowl.

You're used to the nursing home food that you cook.

The whole idea of a hot pot is to cook the eaters individual
ingredients in the broth, not separately, then drink the broth after
you've cooked and eaten some or all of the solids. What you have
there is just soup.

Hey, worked for us! We enjoyed it very much. We don't have the gear
for a flame for each bowl to cook it in the broth. Nice that you do
apparently.

We have a couple of hot pot restaurants in our town. I enjoy eating at one of them but it's hard to get the wife and kids to go. I have made Korean budae jjigae but it needs a little work. Perhaps I'll try again tomorrow. I've got a nice butane burner from Amazon that should make it a lot of fun!

There's only one communal bowl.

There are different types and I've had them in Korea with a bowl per
person. Pusan specifically.

I love that! I actually *like* the spam touch as well as it's a good
match. Yes, it would be very fun over a butane burner. Come to think
of it, we got one too. It's ancillary emergency heat if power goes out
but it also has a little cooktop on it that can be cut on.

Intention is ancillary 'keep the pipes from freezing' in the bathroom
which is farthest spot from the fireplace. WE can and have heated in
power outages just with the fireplace but that back area, has to have
an augment or pipes can freeze. Not toasty warm, but we can maintain
about 50F all but there.

Spam is what the Koreans like to add when making this dish. They'll also add hot dog but I didn't. After a while, you add a block of instant ramen and American cheese and that's what I did.
I recently bought a Korean grill pan for the butane burner. It's pretty cool because there's a drain hole in the center that channels oil under a grill to the side. I haven't tried it yet so its effectiveness is untested. These things are made to fit the ubiquitous Asian butane burners.

My wife, who didn't have her contacts in, thought that looked good until I
called her attention to the Spam.

It's gray and curled, so obviously it is geriatric public hair. Such is Seaman
Shelly's mindset.

Crock pots (slow cookers) can also make alcoholic drinks.

"Funny", I see a hair - type thang, too, and I my screen is perfectly clean 'n clear...

Maybe you should stop using those rip - off hearing aids you peddle to oldsters as a *visual* aid...or tighten up on your filthy kitchen and personal habits...you are right there down with Kuthe as rfc's "dirty pictures" posters...

Are you Steve Wertz? He seems obsessed with my business. I just dig it when yoose guys talk about my business. Makes me feel so special. Please continue to fantasize about the things I do and post your comments about how it all goes down. Us slopeheads are a very patient race and I can wait for years to make yoose guys look like fools.

Yer "pubic hair" is the line painted on the glass top of my Samsung range. Yoose perves have no idea of what pubic hair looks like. Yoose should stop screwing those 12 year old boys.

It the delineation of the "burner" on the top of an induction stove.

Indeed it is - much ado about nothing. I cooked up some kale yesterday. It was cooked for 25 minutes in a pressure cooker. Then it was drained and then a can of coconut cream was added and simmered for a while. Cooking this way is common with taro leaf in the Pacific. It was pretty tasty.

For a top - quality broth, use top - quality, not scraps. That is a simple concept, don't know why many boast about using their food scrap swill for a broth...bullion cubes are far preferable.

But the method of cooking first (a combo of grill and heated bowl at
the table) doesn't change. You are served raw, not pre-cooked
ingredinets.

Well, Train (Midori Express) from Sasebo to Fukuoka then ferry to Busan
(with Don and Charlotte). Other times, my ship pulled in direct there.

(For others, Pusan=Busan, name has flipped back and forth a few times).

Are you asking or trying to insist that my bowl can't have that general

So you didn't see the movie... One of the few foreign films,
subtitled, that I really liked. Haven't watched the "sequel" yet -
reviews are not good.

Not asking, and Yes. Hot Pot is a specific method of communal
cooking and eating totally unlike what you describe. It's not a
"category" like variable recipes. What you made is in the category
"soup".

Huh? I've mentioned what you/where you work ONCE. It's the others
than ran with it. Apparetly year hearing aid is hearing things that
aren't there - you have that looked at by a professional.

Oh, and I pointed out the GPS coordinates you left in a photo you
posted to Google using your Google phone. Which I thought was very
pertinent since you PRAISE Google, yet they told us where you lived.

Huh? Does you really associate pubic hair with puberty because they
sound alike? (tee hee hee) You sound like you're bragging as an
expert on pubic hair. But most of us probably see pubic hair daily.
(but not me because I use green Scotch-Brite(tm))
