The Wal-Mart here has both orange flesh with orange skin and yellow flesh
with purple skin varieties. I seriously like them both.

We often mash boiled carrots, parsnips, potato, sweet potato & sometimes
rutabaga. My wife prefers that as a Shepperd's Pie not just for the
taste, but how it stands up literally in the hydrostatic equilibrium
sense vs. mashed potatoes.

Me, I believe it's how much sour cream and butter you add.

And probably everyone knows it's more closely-related to the Morning
Glory flower than other potatoes.

The canned Del Monte beans called for in the casserole notbob refers to
are sold as "french style" green beans.

French style refers to the way they are cut, typically sliced
lengthwise and the long pieces sliced on the bias, they could have the
strings removed or not... they're usually young green beans so don't
have developed strings. People who don't grow green beans or buy
fresh green beans typically don't know about the string.

I don't grow vegetables but I've bought plenty of fresh green beans so I
know about the string. notbob called this dish "String Bean Casserole"
but the actual recipe is commonly known as "Green Bean Casserole".

Okay... string bean is a colloquial term, shortened from stringed
bean. I don't usually string the green beans I grow, only the larger
ones that escaped getting picked... thse strings can be tough, can be
used as dental floss.
Temps have risen here, up in the mid forties, a lot of snow has melted
but still plenty. At some point we need to let the one wo put it here
take it away. We made paths to the barns so the feral cats can get to
our deck for food and water.
I had my hair cut, showered, and feel more human. I still don't feel
like cooking that ham, maybe tomorrow. Meanwhile it's in the fridge
and is safe for more than a month. After my haircut I went to Tops
Market and bought my greenish bananas, some Sprint soda, they had the
sugar free in two liter bottles, five for $5, better than canned. Got
some bread and rolls too. Supposed to get more snow tonight. I heard
via email that all is fine on Lung Guyland. I'll feed the cats soon
and at 7 PM Mische gets his injection... 7 AM and 7 PM, a half hour
after he eats... he's doing very well, not looking so tired and dull
eyed. Mische is a little over 3 years old, still young and very
loving, he's well worth saving... the insulin with needles is only $2
a day, he gets special low calorie food too. We simply feed all three
the same food. The outside cats get a higher calorie food, they are a
lot more active and living in the cold. We take care of all the
critters, any don't look well they go to the Vet. Most times all they
need is a special food that contains an antibiotic.

The ones folks typically grow have been bred to have tender strings
that don't need to be removed.

I'm not a fan of green beans but had some yesterday that wasn't bad. It's a god-damned Christmas miracle!

Jesus is reputed to have had a very beautiful penis, and I'm sure that he never
suffered from erectile dysfunction. He was barraged night and day with offers of
fellatio, and women would have pelted him with panties if it weren't that panties
had yet to be invented. He was the Mick Jagger of his age. How dare you
characterize Our Lord Jesus Christ as a loser with women.

How many cats do you have there total, Sheldon?
Sounds like 3 inside. How many semi-ferals live outside?

Those do look good. Were they stir fried?

My favorite Chinese restaurant meal is dry-fried green beans, but it
has to be done properly, without a bunch of gloppy gravy.

That's a good question. The restaurant we were at wasn't a Chinese restaurant but the beans were indeed stir-fried.

Now three inside... outsides change but I'll guess generally 5. Some
are people's inside/outside cats. We put food out, we don't check
which can eat here. A a lot of the cat food is eaten by birds.

I love Chinese food but my family don't want to go. Yesterday, my daughter suggested that we order out Chinese and my wife agreed. There is a Father Christmas!

It was a steak - a pretty tough steak. That's life - sometimes you get a great steak and sometimes it's tough.
