Janet- for some reason, I could not reply to your Poilane post. Let's
try again.

Wasn't this revealed at some point in the past? I seem to recall the
founder, Lionel, having a book some years ago and there was either
something in the book or the online bread groups were gossiping.

But...Graham, do you recall anything about his?

You cilly sunt. The first time worked just fine and now you've posted
the same drivel twice and wasted everyboy's time and bandwidth.

Google's search of groups is no longer what it once was, alas, and I
am not even sure if it came up in a Usenet discussion or one of the
oodles of browser based bread groups that I used to haunt. I have
pretty much given up on all of them as the years have gone by.

I am trying to recall the person who was a big Poilane fan on ABR-
Alan Zelt?

Yes! He posted his recipe for his version of the Poilane miche. He visited
the bakery in Rue du cherche midi too.

Looking around online, I see a person by that name in Washington
State. IIRC, that is where he was when he started posting, so perhaps
he moved back- or my "free search" sites are worth what I paid for
them.

Decades ago, Alan Z and I worked at the same company. Yes, really. He
was marketing, I was a software dev. Company is long gone.

I thought he was going to France. But, I think he experienced some
illness
before he left, He got his sourdough starter from a bakery in Finland
when he went to visit his MIL.
