Stuffed Green Peppers, but deconstruted ones.

I had two green peppers that I had bought for other uses but got the
stuffed pepper in my mind last night. I had all the other ingredients.

So this morning (just finished actually) I made the traditional recipe
for them but skipped the final stuffing and baking part.

Why do that, I realized. I do cook the peppers in water first. Then all
the filling is cooked too. Rather than stuff them and bake, why not just
chop it all up first and bake as a casserole dish.

They are all chopped up in a bowl before I eat them anyway.
Then I got even smarter...everything is cooked now in the skillet, why
dish it into a casserole dish to cook longer?

So I just added some cheese to the skillet to melt and that's it.
No oven necessary. I just put the lid on to keep it hot and moist.

Taste test was a good one. I'll have this for lunch and more along with
some buttered bread.

This will be a treat too. Haven't had this dish in over 1.5 years now.

Sounds like a plan, I might try this, too...it's been many years since I made stuffed peppers...

I make stuffed peppers often (puffed steppers). I prefer to slice
them in half lengthwise, each gives two canoes. Stuff with whatever
you like. I like to fill with saw-seege, tomato sauce, and lots of
cheeze and float that armarda in a roasting pan of more sauce and
cooked pasta. Use whichever color bell peppers you like or mix, I
prefer green.

Ingenious.

I had grilled salmon, roasted Brussels sprouts, and garlic green beans.

Rather than flounder or bass?

Or haddock?
(which the big corporate cooked-fish makers like to sell in the frozen boxed foods section of grocery stores).

Atlantic salmon is my favorite cooked fish. It'd be difficult to say what my
favorite raw fish is. Probably tuna.

My friend is making stuffed peppers tomorrow. She will also go to my uncle's place and make stuffed peppers for him. I,m going to the local deli for her and buying a few pounds of ground pork. Pork only, no beef. Peppers are red, yellow and orange. A mix. Sliced in half length wise, tomato sauce, no cheese. And some chicken stock. Simple and yummy.
Also, later on in this thread there is mention of fish. I do like deep fried haddock. However, I haven't had that for years. The only fish I buy now are canned albacore tuna, and canned wild caught sockeye salmon. Atlantic salmon I don't like.

You might like canned wahoo - if you can find it. It's similar to albacore and is the canned fish of choice for Samoans and Pacific islanders - if they can find it.

I have never seen canned wahoo or wahoo of any type. If I ever do see it, I'll give it a try.
