Default Cheese Saboteur

This seems to be the day for cheese:

Michael

Vermont Police Hunt Down Cheese Saboteur

Mon Nov 22, 2:12 PM ET Strange News - AP

MONKTON, Vt. - Wanted: Cheese vandals. Someone sneaked into the production
house at Orb Weaver Farm and punctured 237 wheels of cheese at the Orb
Weaver Farm.

The cheese, a blend of havarti and colby that made up nearly a year's
production at the farm, can no longer be sold or eaten because of the
contamination last week.

Orb Weaver Farm's Vermont Farmhouse Cheese is sold to local restaurants and
stores. It was used in a recipe for macaroni and cheese in the recent
cookbook "The Way We Cook: Recipes from the New American Kitchen."

A cash reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest

Good lord! A cheese-hater! When they find the culprit(s) they need to
press them firmly between two slices of buttered bread over a hot fire.

Seriously, I feel terrible for the farmers who lost a years worth of cheese
production due to someone's idiocy.

They ought to look for a disgruntled ex-employee.
Do I get the reward?

Or a high school prankster/vandal or someone whose mommy forced him to
eat one too many grilled cheese sandwiches, or . . .

I work in a wine and cheese shop. This afternoon when I went in, a
co-worker greeted me with this news. I'd missed it in the paper and am
glad to see the details here. I wonder how insurance handles something
like this. It isn't quite theft but seems related.

I thought it was bizarre. I hope he was insured.

I think he may have been insured but I don't know how they handle
businesses like that. The man lost a years worth of merchandise and the
financial repercussions have to be fierce. I'll bet it was either a
disgruntled employee or a disgruntled competitor.

I would almost prefer it be one of those. That's at least
understandable in a sick way. There are also people who just like to
destroy things and pick their targets at random.
