Amex tried to show they were a status symbol. I had one for work but
I'd never pay to have a personal CC when others are free. Look at me, I
have a gold card.

Apparently, Amex are also slow to pay the vendors.

People appreciate not having to start up the gas engine with its vibration and noise and balkiness. Most people love EVs the first time they drive it. There's also the efficiency of EVs. Instead of using electricity to refine gasoline from crude oil and transporting it to your town in tankers, and pumping it into your car, you can just bypass all that and use the power to charge up a battery. For the equivalent cost of the gas, you can travel 2 or 3 times as far on electricity. That's an energy savings on several different levels.

You remove an entire step put of the process that way. Same with a
vegetarian diet. For carnivores, you need to grow the food, feed it to
the animals, kill them and eat them. For a plant based diet, you grow
the food and eat it. Less effort, no animal suffering, less pollution,
less space required for farming.

And missing essential micro and macro nutrients which cannot be
sourced from plants.

With food, you can go all the way down to whatever level of sustainability you wish. The lowest level being one celled plants - algae. In the future, we'll be eating 3D printed food modules made from algae.

Why shape it at all? I'm working on a combo Covid mask / feedbag. It's
much more trendy, plus it's scientificaly provable to be more hygenic
than a mask that needs to be removed to facilitate eating.

Right now, I need a bit of seed money for some engineering. Specifically,
we will need a nostril excluder in the algae extruder.

So you can either send me money, or volunteer as a test subject.

As it goes, I don't got no money. The concept of algae for food is not a new one. My guess is that 3D printed algae will be in small, bite sized disks. We don't want no stinkin' crumbs in space!

Is Carol Shenk really this stupid? Or is it some sort of ironic art

When he says "we", he doesn't necessarily mean the people here on rec.food.cooking.
He means humans will be eating algae shortly before they're eating Soylent Green.

And there goes the traditional family get together for Thanksgiving.

Speaking of the future, Sunday I watched the very first episode of the
Jetsons (1962) on MeTV. That was cool.

I hear a collective sigh of relief. I can't tell if it's from humans

You should enjoy that turkey while you can. I don't imagine they'll be around in the future. What's Thanksgiving going to look like in twenty years? It might be pretty strange.
The Jetsons was a good looking show - very clean and bright colors. Jane was a fox and George was the usual oaf. At least he wasn't drawn as another fat oaf.

Even better cartoon (more modern) for the clean bright colors and pretty
nice backgrounds is... "Paw Patrol."

I've never watched an entire cartoon but occasionally I will switch to
it during commercials. I love the graphics. Well done.

A friend of mine found a 'Paw Patrol' metal lunchbox and gifted it to
me. I love it. It's not actually a lunch box. It contained a game. She
kept the game for her kids and gave me the metal "lunch box" with all
the cool pictures.

I don't have fancy-pants toys but I do love that one.

It's modern computer generated 3D animation, probably produced in Korea.

I told a guy at work that I wouldn't let my kid watch Paw Patrol
because it might teach him to trust cops. Without missing a beat
the guy replied, "And dogs!"

Really? My annual insurance bill for full coverage including 24/7 no
limit roadside assistance is about $400 a year. On my policy, roadside
assistance means tow, a can of gas, a battery boost, change a flat...
Call anytime. They have a network.

LOL Okay, Gary.

Yes, they are.

I get dividends back each year because I don't have accidents.

Go for it, Mike! Maybe dsi1 will invest! He's really intent on 3D
printed food. And his pal Ophelia will be right there with him!

I ain't invested or intent on nothing. I just report on trends in technology. It ain't my fault that the electric airplane/car is inevitable and yoose believes that I really, really, want it to happen. Mostly, it's you, not me. Yoose guys are invested in 30 year old computer technology. That's some pretty scary stuff.
