Older versions of T-bird allowed that. I haven't found a way to do it
with the newer ones. And I have to admit, I've accidentally hit the
wrong button myself, once or twice, after installing the new version.

She's a rare combination of a bitch with a special type of stupidity.

Have you also noticed you can say something really disgusting about
one of her RFC 'enemies' and she always finds it funny? But the
slightest, vaguest insult directed at one of her 'friends' or herself
and it is just terrible.

Perhaps? DUH. But to blame a commonly used piece of software when 99%
of users have no such problem suggests the problem lies between the
chair and keyboard.

Hmm I can't find anything in those options but I just sent a msg to the
group deleting your address. It seemed to send OK. Now lets see if it
comes to the group but not your email address.

One workaround would be not to enter your email server etc into
Thunderbird. But only if you don't also use Thunderbird for email, of
course.

OHH and OF COURSE, no apology from Ophelia. No apology to Dave for
calling him a liar. No retraction of her comments. You bitch.

are you using the Reply button or the Reply All button?

if you are using the Reply All button instead of that
try just using the Reply button.

i'm not familiar with Thunderbird at all or how it handles
usenet, so...

Sorry to hear of your troubles. I've done it before and boy was I embarrassed! I Twice! don't know what mail/news client you're using but Thunderbird used to default to group and email replays. That was pretty stupid of them. It's a pretty good program otherwise. I'm a little surprised that people still use a real email addresses in this sewer.

if that is it then you can ignore my previous message about
Reply vs. Reply All.

good to know, i've never used Thunderbird so i didn't even know
it had that as an option. yes, use that instead of Reply.

followup (f) is how slrn works. reply (r) is to send someone an
e-mail which i never do from usenet, i don't even have it
configured as i want to cut and paste from the usenet post to
an e-mail because i never want to get them confused or to have
it happen by accident.

Thunderbird can be also used to read e-mails and to reply so you
really can't get rid of that.

Thunderbird is also a cheap high-powered wine. Like Night Train and Wild Irish Rose and Mad Dog MD20/20.

But Thunderbird could distinguish between an email and a Usenet post
and adjust the interface.

I don't use T-Bird for email so if I do click it, the message won't be
sent. Easy error to make

I am the one who is owed an apology because I am the one who you called
a liar. You said that you had never emailed me. It has been pretty
clearly demonstrated that you did email me. YOU were the one who was
lying. Whether it was intentional or you stupidity, you did email me.

But.... you won't do that, so you can go **** yourself. You are back in
the filter where you belong.

Recent updates to Thunderbird switched the positions of the "Reply" and
the "Follow Up" buttons. Likely this is why Dave Smith (who had the
same issue a few months back, kept emailing me replies) is now bitching
about Ophelia making the same mistake.

That's no excuse to make a crappy interface.

Yes, I did send you a couple emails that were supposed to be posted to
the group. I did not call you a liar when you pointed out that I had
emailed you.
