Fair enough. I'm pretty good with Canadian provinces, but not with
Australian states/territories.

And I'm nearly hopeless with anything since about 1975. My mental
map of the world still has a big chunk labeled "U.S.S.R."

Some are simply not interested in geography, doesn't mean one is "ignorant"...

I love maps and atlases, always excelled at geography. I can still name all 15 constituent Soviet republics and their capitals...all districts of the city of Berlin...I have old Czech, East German and Soviet world atlases, several globes...

Collected airline timetables for many years, specifically " exotic " East Bloc items...Aeroflot, Air Koryo, Cubana, Interflug...

I like to read old train timetables, too...

Gary may be "ignorant" about geography, but very knowledgeable about things I or others may be "ignorant" of...

I know nothing about Canada. I also didn't know much about Australia
before I moved here. With regards to topography, I was mainly taught
about the Netherlands and Indonesia in junior school.

It's hard to remember what the USSR fall apart into. Russia,
Kazachstan, Belarus, Georgia, Ukraine, but there must be more.

Many Euros don't even have decent plumbing... many still use squat toilets or slop jars and "bathe" via cold - water sponge baths...most have tiny fridges, maybe 1.5 square feet... in Europe a/c is still a very rare luxury.... food is insanely expensive, too... not to mention fuel...
