That's the way insurance generally works. The insurance companies pay for the folks that have insurance. People without insurance have other channels. Sometimes they just do without. I can't see where they're double dipping. The medicos try to squeeze the insurance companies and patients. The insurance companies try to squeeze the medicos and the people they insure. Mostly, it's a general money grab. That's the breaks. |

They get paid for doing the shot. Insurance may be billed for giving the shot. The vaccine is paid for by the government. This part: "If you have insurance they may bill your insurance for giving the injection but not for the vaccine itself as the government is paying for it." |

You say you "should" get your vaccine this weekend at 'America's Center'. That is a convention center in St. Louis. You DO realize you have to have registered for and have gotten an INVITATION to that, right? You can't just show up if you feel like it. By "BJC" do you mean when BJC *HealthCare* offers them for free? I hate to tell you this, the vaccines are already free. You have to register. Jill |

Exactly, Ed. Shows just how uninformed he is as a "healthcare worker". He has said more than once he's waiting for it to be free. The vaccines *are* free. You have to take a few steps and schedule an appointment. It appears he is too lackadaisical to bother. Jill |

The government doesn´t pay for anything. Taxpayers do. The government can borrow and print money. There is no such thing as government funded. The government doesn´t own anything either. The people own it all, including government debt. |

I was a Cub Scout leader for a few years, and since everyone in a hike has to stop when someone's laces came loose, showing them how to do it properly before the first hike saved everyone a lot of time. My cell phone is a flip phone from Puretalk I have it only because in case I need assitance while driving, as there are no more pay phones, at least I don't see any. I have that flip phone for 5 years and have used it once when it first arrived, to call my land line to check that the flip phone works. I get by fine without a cell phone, a land line works fine for me, I don't use a phone when I'm not at home, and I use my land line rarely, mainly to confirm appointments. I've never even once had an urge to use a phone while driving. I got a phone call on my land line yesterday to remind me of my doctor appt on Tues. I don't get many calls and I don't make many calls. I have a sure fire way to make my phone ring, all I need do is hop into the shower, soon as I'm all soaped up RRRRRIIIIINNNG! My cell phone never rings, I never turn it on and no one calls me as I haven't given that number to anyone, I don't even know the number, it's written on a slip of paper in the phone case. I try to remember to charge its battery about once a month. |

I'm not sure what either of you mean by 'double-bowing'. Do you end up with four loops instead of two? The most prevalent problem is a mis-match between the first half-hitch and the second one you would end with if you pulled the ends back out through the wrong way. (i.e. instead of untying the shoe by pulling the loose ends, pull the ends through the knot the other way by pulling on the string from the loops. You should end up with a square knot. If you end up with a granny knot, it means you are tying the first half-hitch as a mirror image of what it should be. It has nothing to do with doubling the number of twists in the initial half-hitch, which is a common practice and also what I assume one or both of you mean by 'double-bowing'. An easy way to tell as well is that in the final knot, the two loops should end up perpendicular to your foot; not parallel. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoelace_knot , section 1, sentence 1: There are several ways to tie a shoelace knot; each starts with the tying of a half hitch, and requires attention or some habitual mechanism for arriving at a knot that is an elaboration of the reef (or square) knot rather than of the granny (or lubber's) knot. |

> I take the two loops and tie one over the other. I think I know what you mean (see below), but you have again missed the whole point. Here again is the wiki reference, which includes a diagram. (There are two variants; the one not shown is just a mirror image, primarily used by left-handed people & myself because I learned from other kids in front of me instead of from an adult behind me.) The *important* thing is that the 1st & 2nd 'half-hitch' are opposed. I.e. if your first half-hitch is 'left over right', the second must be 'right over left'. This is regardless of if your 2nd half hitch is as you described or as detailed & diagrammed in the article. Thus the 'underlying' knot (the one you get if you pull both loose ends back through the knot) is a reef knot; not a granny knot. The easy way to tell it it was done correctly is that when completed, the 'bunny ears' point left & right, NOT front & back. If you are trying to show someone how to do it correctly, it is much easier to teach them to mirror the first half-hitch than to mirror the more complicated 2nd phase. > It's a classic move for children's shoes. I believe that is what they speak of in "More secure shoe-tying knots": "A variation of the procedure involves looping the top part of the knot twice instead of once, resulting in a finished bow of almost identical appearance but with the laces wrapped twice around the middle. This Double Slip Knot holds the shoelaces more securely tied while still allowing them to be untied with a (slightly firmer) pull on the loose end(s)" |

You are not bothered enough to tie laces the proper way, yet you are bothered enough to take the extra step you described which is less important to keep the laces from unravelling. Cindy, you are truly an enigma. |

I know two knots. Square knot and slip knot. I learned the former in first aid class and the latter when my grandmother taught me to knit. That's all I'm interested in. I'm not a knot nerd. I've been tying my shoes this way for nearly 60 years, and I'm pretty good at it. And I typically only have to do it once a day. What I mainly want is not to step on the free end of the shoelace and untie them. My method ensures that. Cindy Hamilton |
