Normally when I post it uploads immediately. I use Eternal September. Tonight, as of my first post a half hour ago, they still haven't shown up yet... This is new. Not sure if this post is eventually going to show up either. I've tested multiple newsgroups. Might have to switch to a paid service at this rate. |

When I used to use Eternal September, I occasionally experienced the same delay as you. Everything is back to normal for Blocknews this morning, it seems. |

I thought that switching to a paid service would help but it didn't. These days I just use Google Groups. OTOH, the Usenet services tend to be a lot more reliable than they used to be in the past - probably because they're using cloud servers. My guess is that it's some sort of local service problem in your area. Wait awhile and it'll go away. We've certainly been having problems in my rock in the middle of nowhere. |

How slow is slow? And you download them each on demand, or do you select them first and download a bunch at once? You can get delays of 5 seconds in between, but that's rare. Try switching your news server between usnews.blocknews.net and eunews.blocknews.net. They're supposed to be synced by article numbers within microseconds, but I can't guarantee that's true anymore. I always use usnews.blocknews.net. Since they moved to the Highwinds server backbones, I get consistent service. -sw |

Why would use it for one group and not others? News servers work identically for all the major text groups. They don't peer with different servers for different groups. 0-sw |

Alt.origins kept failing over Eternal September. My messages would retain for maybe a day or two. |

It is back to normal and milliseconds at most. Upload takes about 4 seconds. |

In the absence of any errors, and your posts DO show up next time you load headers, that usually indicates a traffic routing problem. probably a pile-up in I-80 or another hurricane on I-10. -sw |

Text posts are extremely small, easy to retrieve, and cheap to store. |
