I had some leftover torillas, refreed black beans, guacamole and pico de
gallo to use up. The perfect solution was heuvos rancheros. Wow. They were fantastic. There may be enough left for another lunch, but the guacamole is turning brown. Maybe I could just use some sliced avocado instead. |

Mine is 2/3 cup dry quick oats Between 1/4 and 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup water small handful of raisins Microwave for 2.5 minutes Add 1 teaspoon butter and 2 teaspoons brown sugar. Mix thoroughly. That's just about the right quantity for my 5:30 am breakfast, after a 12-hour fast. Cindy Hamilton |

Thanks for looking that up. I've never bought any "flavoured instant oatmeal". It's Bruce again pushing his belief everyone in North America consumes massive amounts of sugar. On the rare occasions I eat oatmeal I add a bit of brown sugar to it but not to the point it could really be called "sweet". I actually like the taste of oats. ![]() Jill |

When I had a business, I'd eat that instant oatmeal stuff for breakfast. It was dirt cheap and fast and could be made in the office microwave. What it wasn't was good. I could live with that. Two out of three ain't bad. |

It was dirt cheap and fast and could be made in the office microwave. What it wasn't was good. I could live with that. Two out of three ain't bad. Real oatmeal is cheaper, fast if you plan ahead, and can be made in the office microwave. It's good. Every afternoon my husband prepares a bowl with some oatmeal, raisins and sugar in it, and a container with a measured amount of water. At midnight he wakes up, prepares and eats the oatmeal, takes a Hydrocodone (which upsets his stomach if it's empty), and goes back to bed. Cindy Hamilton |

Grandpa had to have his 'parritch' every morning. It was probably Quaker Rolled Oats; steel cut wouldn't have been a thing they could find in a small town in Ohio in the 1920's or, when we were there in 1971. One tiny grocery store in a tiny town. Fast forward... my mother made oatmeal for my brothers and I when we were little kids. I never got into the habit of eating oatmeal for breakfast as an adult. I like it well enough, I simply don't think about it when it comes to breakfast. Hot cereal. Heck, I don't even eat grits all that often. I'd much rather have eggs and toast. Sometimes bacon, sometimes sausage. ![]() > Horses love oats too. Microwave directions complete with measurements of water, oats and (optional) salt. One serving: 1 cup water, 1/2 cup of oats. Place in a 2 cup microwave-safe bowl . Microwave on High, 1-1/2 to 2 minutes. Stir. At this point you could add in brown sugar, raisins, drizzle it with maple syrup, whatever the heck you want. Or simply add a little butter and eat it without all that jazz. That's a personal choice. ![]() > Every afternoon my husband prepares a bowl with some oatmeal, raisins > and sugar in it, and a container with a measured amount of water. If you had a business, you'd probably spend your time being more concerned about eating rather than the business. I think that sucks. |
