"While the U.S. has seen mass killings in recent years where police said gunmen had racist or misogynist motivations, advocates and scholars say the shootings this week at three Atlanta-area massage parlors targeted a group of people marginalized in more ways than one, in a crime that stitches together stigmas about race, gender, migrant work and sex work."

It's pretty awful. The place used to be a boring sewing school before the girls came in and livened up the building. The girls had to live and work in a commercial office space. The cops were in on it and would raid the place every once in a while to keep up appearances. The mama-san would hold the passports of the girls so they were pretty much prisoners there. It was like those vice squad movies of the 40s - 50s with some human trafficking thrown in for good measure. |

Our secretary said she saw one of our old and feeble clients going up to the massage parlor. He was being helped up the stairs by a couple of girls. That was awful nice of them. That guy sure needed a massage, alright. The web cam idea sounds good but my guess is that a lot of cops went up there too so it's a bit impractical. |

Of course they were whorehouses. If you don't know that "massage parlor" has been code for "sex for sale" for at least four decades, it reveals that you're not an American. Cindy Hamilton |
