I love that sound. One of my favorite music CDs is
"The Bagpipes and Drums of Scotland"
I just put it on now while I write this.

Anytime there is a parade at the beach, I'll ride bike down there to
where the parade starts. The group of about 20 bagpipe players usually
start the parade.

Once they start marching, I'll walk along the sidewalk next to them
until the end of parade so I hear it all. Once they finish, I'll often
ride home. The rest of the parade is usually boring to me. heheh

I wonder what that delivery charge was. At least the optional tip
should have been a good one.

The guy doesn't impress me. The Queen is certainly on borrowed time now
and Charles is next in line. Personally, I'd like to see him pass the
title on to his eldest son.

Not that a Usain opinion matters at all.

IIRC, it was £2.50. Tipping is not expected.
Although I did tip one of the other drivers, who picked up my empty
propane tank one week, exchanged it for a full one the next week, and
hooked it back up for me. He did that on his own time, though.
He and his brother also cut down some overgrown trees which had been
planted years ago as a windbreak - no longer needed, as the shrubbery
they were meant to protect is now mature. They told us how much they
wanted, my husband rounded it up to a nicer number, and we had a
pleasant chat when they were done, accompanied by tea and cakes.

Used to head out to Nodines a couple of times a year. I should try the

I sent several Christmas gifts from Nodines just this past December.

Of course, I always order a little something for myself, too.

There is a line of succession and the crown will pass to Charles. It's
the same thing as Meghan whining about her son not being called a
prince, he isn't one.

If she would take the time to read all the previous posts concerning any particular
subject she wouldn't come across as totally clueless. But hopping and skipping
through threads will do it every time.

She whine about not having their security paid for. There is security
for active members of the royal family. They walked away from being
active members. They have lots of money. They can pay their own damned
security.

Funny how some people jump to false assumptions about things. I can't
help but thing back to Lady Di's death and people whining about them not
having the flag at half mast at Buckingham Palace, as if it were
violating British flag etiquette. British flag etiquette dictates that
the flag fly when the queen is in residence. She was not in residence.
She was at Balmoral, and the flag at Balmoral should have been at full
staff because she was in residence.

Half mast flags are really abused these days. There was a time when
they were only lowered for a very select group of people. It was really
abused here when we had troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and when one was
killed they would lower the flags. Sorry, but that not proper. We have
Remembrance Day, a special occasion on which flags are lowered to honour
ALL the war dead, not to honour certain individuals.

It's a very funny joke! OTOH, my cousin does play the bagpipe in a band. There's nothing funny about that!

Having seen the Crown: the English monarchy is a ruthless
organisation. They're German, by the way. It's not really the House of
Windsor. It's the House of Saksen-Coburg. They changed their name
because of the war. So even after the Brexit, they're still ruled by
Germans

Mountbatten is an Anglo version of Phillip's real name, Von Battenburg.

Without looking very far back in time: the Dutch king is 75% German
and 25% Dutch. His children, including the future Queen, are 50%
Argentinian, 37% German and 13% Dutch. It's all a load of nonsense.

The satirical magazine "Private Eye" once had a cover photo of the Queen
on a state visit to Germany. She was inspecting a guard of honour and
the caption read:
"Hello, Cousin Fritz, Hello, Uncle Hermann, Hello Cousin Wlilhelm........"

Lol. Was it the mother of the current queen who actually had a German

No need for the use of "Von," as it is more of the title part of it
all.

Victoria married Albert and the two of them proceeded to shower the
royalty of Europe with that heritage and a bit of hemophilia.

No. She was a Bowes-Lyon, daughter of the Earl of Strathmore, a Scottish
title.

When WWI broke out the King of England, the Russian Tsar and the German

These alliances were supposed to strengthen the ties between the Europeans but they seemed to be pretty ineffective. The Americans were better at maintaining peace within their continent. Not great, just better.

In other words: monarchies are nothing to get patriotic over, assuming
one was that way inclined.

Sheldon, if you got a gas stove where the oven can't be lit with a
match from inside, then that's on you for a poor choice of gas stoves.

Pretty hard to buy one that can be lit without electric. Most all use a
hot surface igniter, not a spark like the burners. I know you cannot
light a Hotpoint, Frigidaire, GE, Maytag and others.

Don't take my word, Google it
What About Lighting a Gas Oven During a Power Outage?
While it is possible to light a cooktop during an outage, you're
unfortunately out of luck when it comes to lighting the oven itself.
Most of today's models require electricity to operate and cannot be
manually ignited, so your baking will just have to wait until the power
comes back..

You need to drop by an appliance store. All the new gas ranges are now
coming with electronic ignition for the top burners and the oven comes
with a glow bar. The glow bar only works if there is electricity to power
that solenoid that opens the gas valve and lights the gas.

You have an older model gas range. They can still be bought but are not
that readily available when you buy a new stove. Plus the new models
have many bells and whistles to entertain you while you cook.

No, he's got a newer model that does not have that feature. Mine is the
same way. No matches to light the oven but they can be used for the
top burners.

Thank you. I don't think Carol has looked at new gas ranges and what's
available these days.

True unless she has one of those stovetop pans that act like an oven.
