Feeling strangely magnanimous, possibly hormonal issues again. Anyway,
I will offer you a chocolate scented sniff in the spirit of Easter.

Oh and MAGA.

And as lambs are wont to do, many scamper carelessly, their
hooves landing softly in the ubiquitous patties of sheep manure.
Take care, ye lambs, as many clad as sheep are more as unto
wolves, and others, merely stupid ****ing sheep.

On ****ing Broadway no less. I guess we'll find out if it's a
black sheep, because if it is, the cops will be there busting
heads for blocking traffic, but if it is white and proud they'll
sympathize with it.

I hear that in 2018, St. Louis had the highest per capita murder rate.

But it's mostly concentrated in very defined areas. There are areas of
the City of St. Louis where I wouldn't go at all, and even some areas of
St. Louis County (St. Louis City is its own "county," having separated
from the County many years ago) where I wouldn't go after nightfall.

That's pretty much the same thing in any city. More crime in cities and
certain areas to avoid day and especially night.

I never go out after dark these days. Works well for me.

We have a curfew here 8 PM to 5 AM, unless you are walking a dog
within 1 km of your residence.

This is Quebec province-wide. They say it is temporary, despite that it
has been several weeks and no date has been fixed yet to terminate it.

That's odd. Why the curfew?

Covid-19. The intent is to prevent 'community spread' by teenagers.

Fines ~ $6K. It was (& is still) illegal to visit anyone.

My participation in the Easter family get-together was waving the dog's
paw at my mother-in-law through the window at the old-folks home while my
wife spoke to her mother on the phone.

It is because too many people are resistant to common sense and
authority. It is to keep from going out at night and hanging around
drinking and smoking dope together and sharing their germs.

The lockdowns have helped cut the spread of the virus here, but as soon
as they ease restrictions people forget all about the problem and go
out partying and spreading it around.

I am getting a little fed up with the whining about at risk communities
and how racialized groups are especially vulnerable because of the
nature of their work. It sounds like a good line, but there is more to
it than that. Toronto and adjacent Peel Region were locked down with
the rest of the province. FWIW, Peel has a huge south Asian population.
Niagara has almost none. One weekends, Niagara Falls is packed with
south Asians. The drive down here in cars full of adults, so not likely
the same household. They do not socially distance and they do not wear
masks. So spare me the line about their racialized employment putting
them more at risk and how they need to be prioritized for vaccines.

Some people are really playing the race card. Back in the summer there
was a huge crowd of people in a particular park, and most of the people
were white. The press got on their case and one columnists, a brown
skinned women, referred to them as whit covidiots. I had been through
Niagara Falls that weekend and it was wall to wall saris and turbans,
like it is every weekend, but no one would dare to point out the racial
aspect of that gathering.

In some cases, it is more religious than racial. I don't want to pick on
any in particular. There are very vocal Christian groups that defy the
bans & invite journalists. There are also Jews that just quietly quote
their holy books but who would like nothing better than getting cuffed
and hauled off for the 'optics' of the situation. And there are, as you
mention, saris & turbans.

Which is (ostensibly) more bigoted? (Race or Religion). I feel naked
without my baseball cap, but try wearing one of those to court. Yet Sikhs
are free to spin up their turbines wherever.

You look naked without your ball cap. Why, you might as well not
be wearing any pantaloons. Think of the children.

Not at all. My son comes over for dinner often, and we went to his
house yesterday. He's been quite independent for a few years. As
far as how it's going, I have an appointment with a surgeon tomorrow
to address an inguinal hernia, so it could be better. Thank you for
asking.

Another thing with my son's house, my wife was given carte blanche
to plant flowers wherever, and while not explicitly stated, I'm doing
lots of planting in his big back yard. I've put in a blackberry, and two
black raspberries, and have sowed some tomato seeds directly into
the ground. I've cut away most of the little vining plants that were
threatening to choke his blueberry bushes. Heck, I have a giant back
yard to play with.

Lots of middle income folks send their kids off to college, and don't
see them for months on end. This evening, instead of feeling
obligated to cook a balanced family meal, I boiled some frozen
shrimp, cooled them enough to peel them, then added them to a
sauce of heavy cream and two pressed cloves of garlic, with a
sprinkle of parsley flakes, and boiled some vermicelli that I added
so when my wife came home from work, there was a nice dinner
for her on the day that she got her second Covid shot. I get my
second shot in 8 days.

I still have the aches and pains that a 60 year-old guy who is
overweight and drinks too much beer might be expected to have,
but otherwise everything is going quite well. Again, thank you for
asking.

Ouch, my cousin had something like that. The good news is that surgery
usually fixes it up right away. Don't wait decades like he did.

> I get my second shot in 8 days.

We (Quebec) have a staggered approach. So far, priority seems to be
people other than myself. But the age limit goes down by 5 years every
few weeks so I expect my first before the end of the month.

> [...] drinks too much beer

Is that a bit less and still too much, or more of the same? I assume
you've tried lower % beer, or mixing with lemonade. The sugar in that
might cause trouble though, speak to a professional first.

> Again, thank you for asking.

It's your payback for not getting into the latest round of infighting.
All of the normal rules seem to no longer apply.

In 'normal' bitchfests, enemy of enemy = friend, and friend of friend =
friend. The classic 'love triangle' (a-c; a-b; bxc) is now joined by two
types of 'hate triangle', specifically the 'hate everyone else' and the
cyclic 'hate the one who doesn't hate my friend'. And triangles are not
the limit. 'Hate polygons' with complex linkages between the members are
constantly forming & disintegrating. Plus, the forgers are getting better
at imitating their targets as others point out their mistakes.

I predict it will all burn itself when we all learn to ignore the worst
offenders, but I won't bet any money on time-frames.
