I went to Schnuck's this evening
For Jalapeno and Serrano peppers for my Breakfasts and also today earlier I went to Branneke's to BUY some Jalapeno and Serrano pepper plants, and I planted them in my Front Left Garden Bed.
So this Summer when I want a Jalapeno and/or Serrano pepper, I'll go out front to my Garden! YUM! :-) John Kuthe, RN, BSN... |

I woke up at 11:AM and started donating 880ml of plasma about an hour later then went to the garden store and bought a kaffir lime tree and a cactus then the liquor store for some cachaca then the grocery store where I bought carrots, green onions, beef cheeks, a tri-tip, 5lbs of ground beef, various canned tomatoes, a SPAM clone, 2 bottles of cheap ketchup, romaine hearts, 3 green peppers, a bag of little hoagie rolls, a cucumber, 2 heads of garlic, 2 kinds of onions, a bag of potatoes, 10 key limes, and 2 Langers Strawberry Lemonaides for $1. Then I trimmed the rest of the vitex and stuffed the trimmings into 2 50 gallon trash cans for pickup on Monday, and then I tried on some new shoes that Fed-Ex delivered while I was out and then I soaked and wiped up all the shit I spilled all over the stove last night before I cooked Italian snausages, onions, and peppers while I did a half-assed job of mopping the kitchen floor with Pinealin and my slip-on furry, absorbent slippers while dancing to "Staying Alive" and drinking caipirinhas. Then I called my former landlord in San Jose and left a message telling him to get off his lazy, ass come and fix my ****ing heater and A/C (when it was 71F in San Jose) and paint my kitchen then I banned some people on reddit that don't like me and then I responded to some delirious asshat on Usenet about I forget what. -sw |

I have some 20 veggie plant seedlings and Don put in a few seeds for hot peppers. I also do lettice from seed and got 4 types. Nothing like walking out in the yard and making your own salad! |

Another great company that is in only one small region is Braum's Dairy. https://www.braums.com/ Not that StL doesn't have some local treasures. IIRC, you're in San Antonio. ALDI has a store in Austin, so you'll probably get one soon. Some folks here have had negative things to say about ALDI's produce, and yeah, sometimes it's iffy, especially grapes, but the prices are good, and their Specially Selected products are great. Their Specially Selected vanilla ice cream is the closest thing to Haagen Dasz I've ever had. > > -sw > --Bryan |

Quite a few of us garden a bit. Mine's all containers but raised up on benches so easier for me to deal with. Quite a few of us have some plantings going or have mentioned their gardens. I think ds1 has even mentioned some potted herbs a few times? I also do fruit trees (and am not alone there either). Apples in full bloom right now and I put in 3 more cherry (fruiting) trees this year as my crosspollenator didn't make the winter. 2 Blueberries survived and are a cross pollenator set. I have some extra planters and may try a butterfly garden again. |
