Default Shrimp boil !

Our neighbor invited us and 2 other couples up for early dinner/late
lunch yesterday ... and told us to bring our chainsaws ! Actually , we
had set up to take out a couple of trees that were in the way and one
that was too close to the house . They decided after it was set up to
feed us too .
So the food started with a big ol' pot of water on a turkey fryer
burner . Added spice mix and onions and lemons next , added andouille
sausage then the shrimp last . Cobettes of corn were cooked in a
separate pot since some of the attendees have allergies . Altogether a
great time , lubricated by quantities of beer AFTER the saws were put
away .
Oh , and all 3 trees dropped withing a couple of feet of where I
wanted them to fall . On a hillside , parallel with the slope so our
winches and hauling gear won't have to work too hard to get the rounds
up the hill and loaded on trailers to bring home to the wood yard .

No , SHE didn't . They were added last because they cook so fast and
get tough if overcooked . These were very very good , she's done this
before I betcha .

Ah ? What the **** does that mean ? We help out a neighbor , and in
return we get some firewood and a great party . Too bad you don't have
any friends .

Hmm, I always thought they deep fried turkey using a fish boil burner.

I prefer steamed shrimp, myself. With Zatarains, Old Bay or other seasoning dumped on at serving time.
When I was in Hawai'i, I liked dipping shrimp in that green horseradish called Wasabi and then soy sauce.

Now that I think of it, I don't either, except for one or two people here on Usenet.

I don't care what kind of burner you use. Acetelyne gas can burn at 5800°F. I saw where MAPP gas can create a flame that is 5300 °F. Put that under even a clay pot and it will melt. Clay pottery will melt at just 2280 °F

Oh that was just the afternoon . We spent a good part of the morning
in town at the Iris Festival . I scored a new purple bearded iris for
free too . It will make a nice addition to our iris/daffodil beds .
They're having a very good year , some of our (existing) purple
bearded's have up to 5 blossoms . I sure hope our food garden does as
well as the flower beds !

The purple bearded iris is the state flower for Tennessee and they are
gorgeous. I don't have any but my buttercups/daffodils looked lovely
this year.

There is a house about 3 blocks from me that has a white picket fence
and along that fence, inside the yard, is a wide row of yellow irises. They
are very tall a few peek between the pickets are really eye-catching.

I was not aware there was a prize. I did notice the last time I cleaned
up my garden shed that I have a MAPP burner and a few Oxygen tanks.

I can't remember ever using it. I think I bought it when I got mad at
something that would not 'take' solder okay with the propane torch.

I also have a number of brazing rods and even a few silver ones, but I
believe whatever it was I was trying to fix broke while I was trying to
secure it in the vice.

Interesting . A couple of days ago I TIG welded a threaded stub onto
a tie rod end for a tractor . Today I used the hydraulic press and the
lathe along with some dial indicators to straighten the hydraulic
steering cylinder rod for that same tractor . He had a full front loader
bucket up in the air and got on a side hill . Rolled the tractor and
busted up all kinds of stuff , I'll be repairing a busted exhaust elbow
as soon as I get the rest of the pieces . Turns out having a machine
shop is a hobby that pays ... my friend Bill the Machinist says that
since people pay me for stuff I'm a pro , but I think he's wrong .

I have to ask why you would have the bucket up in the air when
traversing a hill. When I worked in highway maintenance a lot of the
staff at the patrol yards were farmers. I could always tell which of
them were the farmers when I saw them driving front end loaders. They
always drove with the bucket up. Safe practice is to keep the weight low.

I have no idea why he had the bucket up . I never see anything but
the aftermath . Like the bush hog with the gear box dangling by the
drive shaft thru the hole in the deck . Metal fatigue in a 20-something
year old machine took it's toll .

It's a farmer thing. I saw it all the time. We had 28 patrol yards in
our district and I used to deliver equipment to all of them, mostly
tractors, front end loaders and graders. Every patrol had a couple
tractors with mowers and at least also had a bucket. The farmers always
drove them with the bucket up. Everyone else kept the buckets low. I
can think of lots of reasons to keep them low and not a single one to
have it all the way up.

I'm not qualified to have an opinion on this one . I've driven a
tractor with a front loader maybe 4 times ... none of them to use the
front loader .

That would mean no more snowball fights, until Sept or so. That would be kind of sad, wouldn't it?
