Nevada has had open carry since forever. Concealed carry requires hoops to
jump through. Technically, one can walk the main streets with a openly
holstered pistol or walk down those streets with a visible long gun.
The good news is that nobody does that. Damn few have ever done it. I´m not
aware of any. But it´s legal.

34 out of 50 is a 'majority', but not 'most'.

IMO, the entire gun restriction movement is dumb and worthless. The
anti-gun people want all guns to disappear but that will never happen.
The ever increasing restrictions only affect the good people that just
like guns. The bad people will always have access to guns on the black
market.

Guns don't kill. People do.

I have no firearms so I don't keep up with current laws. I don't have
any reason to care.

Virginia has or used to allow open carry. Once worked with a biker guy
who came to work each day with a 45 cal handgun worn in a western style
holster. It was legal.

To get a concealed weapons permit, you had to apply for one, go to court
and explain why you needed it. Without a valid need, many have been
turned down.

You've rolled up a range of opinions into the most extreme.

Quite a few people would like to see reasonable restrictions enforced
on firearms ownership.

It's stupid to let crazy people have guns, yet so many mass murders
result in the perpetrator's friends and relatives saying, "We knew he
was crazy. He scared us."

It's stupid to let people buy guns without any kind of background check.

It's stupid that there isn't a national database that is consulted
when anybody wants to buy a gun.

> The ever increasing restrictions only affect the good people that just

But not the stupid people, who leave their guns where their kids
can find them and accidentally shoot their siblings and friends.

Making it more difficult to obtain firearms will reduce the number
of such incidents.

People with guns can kill more efficiently than people with
knives, clubs, or well-aimed rocks.

I am a gun owner and target shooter and I support reasonable and
effective gun control. I fully support the idea of owners being licensed
through a process that involves safety training. I do not support open
or conceal carry of handguns. I think handguns should be strictly
regulated and I think that enforcement should be aimed at those who use
guns in crimes.

Our idiotic Liberal government a few years back started a long gun
registry in response to a number of shootings involving handguns and
sawed of shotguns (already prohibited). They seemed to be under the
impression that the people with illegal handguns would suddenly realize
they were illegal. The next Conservative government scrapped that registry.

Last year there was an incident where a guy with mental issues and no
firearms licenses went on a killing spree using illegally acquired guns.
The Liberal response was to ban 1500 models of rifles that are not
assault rifles but which look nasty. Fully automatic firearms and high
capacity mags have been illegal for years. There had been one incident
about 30 years ago where there was a mass shooting involving one of
those models.

What is an everyday ordinary person even doing in a state like that? If you're a kid, you better make a bee line back east. Quick !!!

In your case, self important. The fact remains there's many
more states that have open carry than not.

No news here, nothing to see, move along.

The bad guys always carry (if they choose to).
The gun restrictions don't apply to them. Not ever.

Disney liberals think that gun laws will make the world safer. The only
people that obey those new laws are the ones that are not a threat.

Again...it's the certain ppl that are the problem, not guns.
Homemade shrapnel bombs work even better. Good luck getting rid of those
various ingredients.

I would love to have a mortar, An 81mm would be nice but I would
settle for a 60mm. They are a little more affordable to shoot than a
howitzer, and you can manage it without a big crew. I hate to think
what howitzer rounds cost these days.

I can understand the desire to shoot machine guns. They are fun to
shoot. The expense..... OTOH. Ammunition is fairly expensive here. I
still like shooting but I am glad that my time in the reserves gave me a
chance to shoot for free. Even better than free, I got paid to do it.
We would go to the ranges and shoot off a couple hundred rounds each.
Since I was a weapons tech I went away with other reserve units and shot
with them as well. The best was an artillery shoot.

Western countries with stricter gun laws than the US are safer
countries than the US.

Little 4-year-old Billy rarely makes a homemade shrapnel bomb and
kills his sister with it.

Homemade shrapnel bombs require forethought. A gun is easy
to pick up and shoot your mouthy wife with when she nags one
too many times.

That's true, but there's the whole, that ship has sailed, can't put the cat
back in the bag thing. This country is what it is. That's one of the bad
aspects, but it's not going to change.

If this is what the majority wants, then this is what they should get.
I'm just glad I live somewhere where the majority wants something else.

That is why we have safe storage regulations here. Handguns have to be
trigger locked and in a locked case or cabinet and ammunition has to be
stored elsewhere. There are almost no carry permits. You can get a
permit to carry your handgun from your residence to an approved gun
range. Your gun club applies for the permit on your behalf. It is
extremely rare for a licensed handgun to be used in a crime.

In order to buy a handgun you have to have a special possession and
acquisition license that has to be renewed regularly. The spouse's
signature is required.

that's the sad truth. WE used to be able to walk around our capitol
city or towns in the boonies with a gun strapped to our hips and no
one even noticed. Now, The guy ahead of me in line at Costco had a
fancy schmancy pistol strapped to his hip with all the accoutrements,
plus bullet proof vest. That gave me a scary feeling in my chest. He
wasn't any kind of law enforcement. No need for that in a city.

It would require an amendment to the Constitution. The majority does not
want that amendment.

I can't speak for the other states, but a carry permit here is good for 8
years. Or a lifetime permit is $300 if I remember correctly.

Hmmmmmmm, I've not seen any hothead nutcase walking around with a
gun on their belt. Can you site your source? But the ones I've seen 'open
carry' are discreet about it and it's under their shirt, unseen.
