Default One hour till kickoff

Okay, one hour to the Texas A&M-UT game!
It looks like only me, myself and I are going to
be home to watch this great traditional rivalry.
So I'm planning on making those chorizo stuffed
dates to nosh on. Some sweet red seedless grapes
and some leftovers from yesterday should round
things up nicely.
What do YOU like to eat while watching the big game?

Stromboli, nachos, like that. Obviously, finger food.

Depends on the weather. Were it today (that's not the big game for me),
I'd take a break from turkey because it is quite warm in San Diego,
maybe some barbequed burgers or dogs, chili-cheese dogs. Colder weather,
chili or turkey enchiladas.

Grilled hot wings
Grilled ABT's
Grilled "Squiddlies"
can you see a trend here...just about any finger-food that's been grilled

Usually traditional baseball food... But since the season is over...

Jim, I was at Callahans (in Mira Mesa), my favorite hangout and popular
sports bar, today. Oddly enough, most people were eating cold weather foods:
N.E. clam chowder, chili, etc. The burgers and such were not at all popular.
Nor were the "Irish" dishes. The only thing I saw a lot of was the
waffle-cut fries. Half the TVs were set to the Louisiana game (very noisy
fans) and the others, including the big plasma, had the TX-A&M game (not
quite as noisy). I could not get any enthusiasm going for either. (Q: A is
agriculture, but what is the M for? Perhaps mining?) No turkey on the menu
today!

Do you ever get to Mira Mesa? I make the loooooong trip up there at least
once a week. Suzan, are you here? How about you? I'd love to introduce you
to Callahan's! It has been my hangout for many, many years. I've watched
many of the people there grow up and they have been very kind to me in my
deepest times of trouble and depression. I am free next Saturday if that
works. Suzan, I can give you a ride up if you like. I'll need to wash my
Lincoln beforehand if you are going. <smile>

Agricultural and Mechanical. From the TAMU website:

Texas A&M, the states first public institution
of higher education, was opened on Oct. 4, 1876 as
the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas.
The school owes its origin to the Morrill Act of
1862, which established the nation’s land-grant
college system.

In 1963, the name of the institution was changed
to Texas A&M University to more accurately reflect
its expanding role as a leader in teaching,
research, and public service for the state, nation
and world. The initials "A" and "M" are a link to
the university’s past; they no longer represent
any specific words as the school’s curriculum has
grown to include not only agriculture and
engineering, but architecture, business,
education, geosciences, liberal arts, medicine,
science, and veterinary medicine.

am done with my assignment here in San Jose. Won't be til February
though.. I am not sure how much time I am taking off after this
assignment, but it might be a few weeks.
