Hi all,
I found this recipe and I haven't tried it yet but I will. I thought with the holidays comming other would like to try it. Has anyone ever made this in a crockpot before? Take care, SPOONS Chex Mix Crockpot Recipe 2 cups Cheerios 3 cups Rice Chex 2 cups Shredded Wheat 1 cup peanuts, pecans, or cashews 1 cup thin pretzel sticks 1/2 cup butter -- melted 4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce 1 Dash Tabasco sauce 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt 1/2 teaspoon onion salt Combine cereals, nuts, and pretzels in Crock-Pot. Mix melted butter with all remaining ingredients; pour over cereal mixture in Crock-Pot and toss lightly to coat. DO NOT COVER CROCK-POT. Cook on High setting for 2 hours, stirring well every 30 minutes; then turn to Low setting for 2 to 6 hours. Store in airtight container. |

I could be missing something here, but I can't see why I'd want to take 4-8 hours to make what I can do in the oven in an hour or so. I see no advantage whatever to the crockpot method -- what am I missing? Color me Curious. -- -Barb, <www.jamlady.eboard.com> Updated 11-28-04; Sam I Am! birthday telling. |

But then wouldn't they just buy the prepared bags too? I dunno? Goomba |

I've made it and it came out great. Only downside was the
smell -- everyone in the building was hungry the whole time it was cooking! On Mon, 29 Nov 2004, Spoons wrote: > Hi all, > > I found this recipe and I haven't tried it yet but I will. I use the crockpot method sometimes with my kiddos (it's a great chance for them do to some measuring and sequencing and following directions and all of those wonderful cooking skills that apply to the kindergarten math and reading curriculum). The point is making their own snack, not merely buying the bagged product to give to them. |
