Default Stand mixers

I've seen Kitchenaid stand mixers on almost every cooking show on TV, and
several of my friends have one. I want one. But they are very expensive. I
came across a Hamilton Beach mixer online that looks to be every bit as good
as Kitchenaid, but very much less expensive. They call it "Eclectrics".
Anyone have one, or at least an opinion?

Kitchenaid has an excellent track record of quality.
You get what you pay for.

Under normal circumstances you get what you pay for.

IMHO If you are going to use it constantly I own and recommend the Kitchen
Aid. If its going to be used occasionally either one should do nicely.

With heavy use, the Kitchenaide will last a lifetime.
With heavy use, the Hamilton Beach will last you several years.

If all I could afford was the HB, I'd get it. I've owned several of
their products and liked them for what they were. I had a blender that
lasted 12 years.

Just bought a reconditioned Kitchenaid from Amazon and saved a lot over a
new one. Same warranty as a new one too. On the other hand, we used a
sunbeam stand mixer for 20 years. Not as strong as the Kitchenaid but still
adequate for most needs.

I'm still using my 1981 purchase Oster Kitchen Center. Poor thing is
about on its last legs too. I'm looking at the Delonghi mixers (ex-Kenwood).

Noisy as hell, pretty unreliable compared to the KitchenAid,
in my experience, anyhow. Also getting parts such as replacement
beaters, etc, is kind of tricky with the Delonghi.

Here is a link to the Hamilton Beach mixer I spoke of. It's an all metal
double rotation mixer, just like Kitchenaid. It looks to be pretty good
quality, but doesn't have the attachment connector, which I think is an
expensive gimmick. http://www.comforthouse.com/comfort/cuistoasovbr.html.

I'll happily grant you that they aren't as good as they used to be.
They are, however, better made than Hamilton Beach.

My KA was purchased in 1973 and I don't foresee it giving out, but I'd be
willing to give the Hamilton Beach a shot. I've owned other HB appliances
and have been very happy with them. Their pro series also looks very nice,
and who could argue with 800 watts and an 8 quart bowl?

That's just not true. Hamilton Beach, Sunbeam, and a host of other stand
mixers perfom just as well as KA, and many perform better and for less money, a
lot less money. In any event, unless one is handicapped, no one needs any mini
stand mixer... the KA, and others, are only popular because certain egotists
need to display things in their kitchens that reek of commercial-type
paraphenalia, makes them feel like they can actually cook. 95% of what stand
mixers are used for can more easily be accomplished with a hand mixer... and no
one who has full use of their hands needs a mini stand mixer to prepare two
measly loaves of bread. Owning and displaying a KA stand mixer is *exactly*
tantamount to a *child* owning and displaying a set of Lionel trains... it's
all about *FANTASY*.

I really don't care that you masturbate to visions of kitchen aid stand mixers.
But thanks for your concurrence with my premise.

I happened to catch the Tony Danza show a few days ago, they play
games. Well, the prize was a Kitchenaide stand mixer. He would
sit the people down and put this heavy machine next to them. All
I could think was, are they seriously expected to drag that around
all day in Manhattan??? Man.
