It has a timer and thermal carafe (no warming plate) which are essentials for me with a coffee maker. The coffee it makes from whole bean coffee is far superior to my prior machine (which didn't have a grinder) -- coffee made from pre-ground coffee is as good as that made by my old machine. That it has a bypass switch to make coffee from pre-ground stuff is an important feature to me. I don't use it often, but I'm very glad it's there. Main disadvantage to the machine is that the grinder is really loud. I suspect this is true of most combination grinder/makers. Cats have yet to not be scared when it trips on. HTH Anny |
