Simple question.
A recipe I have calls for a "cake" of yeast. The yeast I have comes
in a free posdered form. So how much is equivalent to one cake?

Usually 1 packet of dry yeast is equivalent to 1 cake of yeast, although
yeast in cake form sometimes comes in more than one size. If the recipe
only specifies "1 cake", then I would assume 1 packet. Use of other sizes
of cake yeast is usually specified.

2 1/2 teaspoons = 1 cake of yeast.

1 cake yeast = 2-1/2 tsp. dry yeast granules.
