Ummm, White Castles! Love 'em! STL also use to have a few White Tower
places, even better, but long gone. I remember going to one on
Kingshighway not far from Cleveland Avenue, but there were others around
town.

Mikie, Mikie, Mikie.... I'm "slightly" older than you are -
both my kids have graduated from college and I have a
grandchild. So, I can tell you from personal experience that
you are old only when you FEEL old.

Grandkids are better then your own kids.

If they are driving you nuts you can sent them home.
You can feed them as much candy as you want, they will be on thier
parent's ceiling.
And they are payback for what your kids did to you.
;-)

They will go fishing and hunting with you.
They will mow your lawn (O.K. if you pay them)
And they keep you young.

The Earth is degenerating these days. Bribery and corruption abound.
Children no longer mind their parents, every man wants to write a
Book, and it is evident that the end of the world is fast approaching.

I've always heard White Castles referred to as "Sliders" due to the
grease content :-) Give me a Fatburger any old day! Or even an
In-and-Out burger!

Good stuff - but they've opened up so many outlets, the
mystique is quickly evaporating.

Boy, the See's candy and the football bring back memories of my childhood.
My paternal grandmother always brought the former and my maternal
grandfather insisted on the latter.

We had dinner with the paternal side of the family on Christmas eve and
those who were so inclined went to church.

The next morning ...

see what is in our stockings (we do stockings in this family) - as kids we
were always allowed to do that whenever we got up, and I still hear about
the year I read the clock wrong (I'm nearsighted and this was before
digital displays) and was there at 2:30 am.

have a nice breakfast (mmm, biscuits)

open presents from Mom, Dad, Grandma.

get ourselves over to whichever of relatives (maternal side but my
grandmother and bachelor great-uncle were always invited) was hosting
Christmas dinner

open more presents

eat dinner (usually turkey and ham because it is a cheap way to feed a
crowd)

run around or watch football with Grandpa

come home

Nowadays we are on much the same schedule but don't travel for dinner or
open up a second round of presies. Dinner is often beef. After dinner we
make phone calls to the relatives-who-aren't-around.
