Default EEEEK! What I don't want for Christmas

I was at Walgreen's getting a prescription when the woman in line in front
of me asked if they could get down two "Batter Pro's" for her. I saw the
boxes, cringed silently, then searched and found this abbreviated
description (my comments are in brackets):

a.. Batter all your food in under 10 seconds. [yes, please batter all your
food. It's so HEALTHY.]
a.. Saves time. [Lord knows it's hard to dredge food in flour or crumbs by
hand.]
a.. No mess and No waste. [What if you add too much flour or crumbs? Is it
gonna magically turn them into something yummy for you?]
a.. Never touch raw food. [God forbid!]
a.. Works with batter, breadcrumbs, cornmeal and marinades. [Exactly how
does marinade constitute "batter"?]
a.. Perfect for chicken, pork, fish, vegetable and more. [more WHAT???]
a.. Set Includes:
a.. Batter Pro
b.. Recipe Guide
c.. Adjustable Knife
d.. Professional Kitchen Utensil
a.. As Seen On TV. [Whew! That sure comforts me]
a.. Bonus Gift: Amazing adjustable knife and Professional kitchen utensil.

Gotta love those "Professional Kitchen Utensils". They are so professional
they defy an actual description! It's a whisk! It's a spatula! No wait,
it's a salad server! And of course, the adjustable knife, well, you just
*have* to have one. You can't possibly have more than one knife in the
kitchen. But wait... will it cut through a tin can like it was soft butter
and then smoothly slice a tomato? Inquiring minds want to know

Damn, Jill, you spoiled the surprise! Guess I'll just have to take your
gift back to Walgreen's.

Jill, I swear I'm coming over so we can do something with the shrimp,
scallops and lobster in your freezer. It's about time to use it up, girl!

But... but... if I *use* it then I won't have it in my freezer! You can't
have your seafood and eat it too! And you keep your hands off my tilapia

Tilapia was the fish I have caught most in my life. They were in the
plantation fresh water reservoirs. Once as a pre-teen, I think I
caught 55 in one night. But my Mom and Dad are dead so it may just be
my fantasy recollection.

Monkfish is wonderful, just ugly. Tilapia is a really nice fish as well -
but much better looking. :~)

I *did* get a nice little crock pot at Walgreen's one year; perfect size for
keeping dip warm, stuff like that, only $9, removeable crock and all.

Hey, *I'd* do the stew, it's the hubby who won't try it. And I found out
last night, he won't do beef stew either. So, no stew for this house. I'm
doing cacciatore.

What's wrong with that man????!!!! Doesn't like stew? Even some of
the best beef and chicken stews around? Like Coq au Vin, or Boeuf
Bourgignon (sp?)??

I thought of suggesting Coq Au Vin...by the way.... I might make
that...

He's a BBQ man and says meat in stews gets dry and overdone. What are you
gonna do? If I do "Italian" stew, you can do your Coq Au Vin. I think it's
all fair, right?

A BBQ guy should know that long cooking at low temps melts internal
connective tissure, rendering a tender, moist result.

TFM won't do stew?!? <gasp> There goes my opinion of him! ;-) I'm
just waiting for it to get a little bit colder and then the stews and
chilis will become common around here again. Dry and overdone? Not if
done properly, kinda like doing good que.

Agree... but I don't look at anything except the fillet.

Much better looking, but didn't care for it. I'm not a fish
lover, so it has to have an exceptional flavor for me to go
for seconds.

Which? Monkfish can even be grilled over coal.
Wow, it's good! Don't see it around much anymore. It was a
big fad and now it's - not.
