Holidays off are nice, but I've worked for the prison system, and I've
worked in the medical field.....it's best that some jobs don't go
undone. I can't really say that working holidays has done me any harm.
Actually, it might have made me appreciate the ones I had off.

Not everyone celebrates Christmas. For example, many Chinese and other
ethnic restaurant workers have no problem working on Christmas Eve if
they do not celebrate Christmas.

ethnic restaurant workers have no problem working on Christmas Eve if
they do not celebrate Christmas.

There's that scene in "A Christmas Story" where the family ends up at
the Chinese restaurant after the dog eats the turkey. "Deck the harrs
with bows of horry, fa ra ra ra ra".

And what if no one came to a restaurant that opened on Christmas Eve? We
have dined at the same restaurant on Christmas Eve for years, because it
specializes in Northern Italian cuisine and offers a traditional selection
of seafood dishes. The owners and staff obviously enjoy the festivities as
much as the diners, and I believe they would be disappointed if none of
their usual diners showed up because they presumed the staff were all
Christians who didn't want to be there!
