Default Help - Rock Candy

I've tried to make it and it turns out in one hare lump. What am I doing
wrong, is it the string and how far it is hanging in the container or what?
Thanks, Carol In WI

It's supposed to be all one hard crystalized lump...

How are you making your sugar solution?

The biggest problem that I have had in the past was crystalization on
the surface of the syrup if I did not get a good seal on the jar! :-)

If you dunk the string then take it out and dry it first to get an
initial "seed", then put it back into the jar as soon as it's dried, it
seems to give a better crystalization.

You can use a toothpick too, or a bamboo skewer.
