I think you're over reacting before having all the
facts? And none of this is "political" as if
something "new" has happened.
I think there is more to these stories or
explanations, to include various levels of
response based on individual situations? Over
emotional responses and over reaction without the
facts stirs others up but is not necessarily accurate.

And neither is your informationless reply. Save your scolding and your
smug righteousness. You just keep sounding like an unhappy harpy who
can't construct a reasonable sentence. What can a mangled expression
like this mean: "I think there is more to these stories or
explanations, to include various levels of response based on
individual situations?"

If you actually have some information, drop it in. Otherwise, your
opinion of the behavior of others is of vanishingly small importance.
This seems to be a common behavior of yours. Mirror, mirror on the wall...

Definitely - in April had operation at VA med ctr. I was expecting to only
stay overnight. Stayed 5 days. The phone card they gave me let me call my
old mum and let her know. Was much appreciated. If one uses the pay phone &
credit card you can expect to pay up to $8.00 for a 3 minute call with
surcharges and all. We have an army hospital here in our hometown - we'll
plan to drop off a few there with the Red Cross people.

One is always charged for meals when in a military hospital if you are
paid subsustencence allowance. I paid it when I was on active duty and
hospitalized on several occasions It eliminates double dipping -
collecting money to buy food on the economy and getting the equivalent
amount in food as a patient.

Just checked the website snopes.com and saw an update on this.
It appears that so many phone cards have been sent that
Walter Reed Hospital is now asking people to hold off on
this until at least March 2005.

Okay, now it seems a lot more reasonable. Thanks for sharing your

Makes sense if they expire, otherwise, why not? How about other hospitals
such as the Naval Hospital in Bethesda? Other VA hospitals?

Exactly, Edwin.

Send them to lots of others. Obvious suggestion, but apparently too
complex for lots of people.

Ask whoever answers at Walter Reed if they know of other hospitals
around the country. If that person doesn't know, call the Veterans'
Administration.

I mean, hey folks, think...

Nursing homes, inner city organizations (addicts and those with mental
illnesses--the majority of the homeless--have parents, children who
would like to hear from them), youth organizations for runaway kids...

This is all true! I often get annoyed by the
outpouring of goodies provided at the children's
medical center near me, yet no one ever thinks of
the older, often homeless patients in the hospital
next door. Any Salvation Army shelter would most
likely appreciate toiletries and the like too.

I think they're just overwhelmed with the quantity -- not that
the cards expire. The website (snopes.com) does have
some info on other ideas/ways to help. Search for
Walter Reed on that site for more info.

Hey, Nancy. What has wacko Chung to do with helping out our troops?

> No. Bob's the one who is obsessively drawn to respond to Dr. Chung.

<LOL> Chung is a slow-moving target who keeps making silly statements,
keeps offering bogus "information" and keeps preaching *at* people.
Plays word games when he can't answer questions posed to him. Makes
"What is, is" look like brilliant repartee.

His OCD has forced him to make up a couple pages on his web site just
about me. Go read them, he plays lawyer, too. Uses words like
"wilfully" and sticks in that "did" thingy before verbs to make it
sound like some TV lawyer. Hilarious.

He lies, he dissembles, he plays the hypocrite, he pretends to
knowledge he doesn't have and he makes "diagnoses" about people
without knowing them.

He also claims to be able to "discern" truth with no real mechanism
for doing it. It just comes to him. Says it's a gift from God. Says it
"trumps" logic.

>>nancy (hey)

And he has the hubris of a dozen Donald Trumps with only being fired
from a medical facility in Florida and his OCD Scrupulosity to show
for it.

He trolls for new customers on his web site. He claims to have
"testimonials" on his web site. Take a look for yourself.
<http://tinyurl.com/6zz4g>

> Hope the above information enlightens you.

And he presumes to "enlighten" pretty much everybody he replies to.
And then he tags on this sig package to glorify himself. And
aggrandize himself. All while claiming to be humble.

I especially like the smarmy conceit of using "Dr." and "MD/PhD"
around his name. Just to make sure you don't miss his importance in
the world. Humble guy...

Take a look at this URL coming up. See how he demonstrates his
Christian love.

> Such is the work being done here for Christ's glory

The ironic display of calling himself the servant of the humblest
person in the universe eludes him.

And see his own definition of spam. No one else agrees with him, but
he has "discerned the truth" about what it is, despite the comments of
the people who invented the term.

What a guy.

Nancy, with a bit more exposure, I'm sure you'd grow to appreciate
Chung as much as so many other have.

No, seriously...
