Each Monday morning, the NY Times Metro section has a section they call
"Metro Diary," which consists of around-town stories that readers send
in. Not long after Thanksgiving, a woman writes in about attending the
Thanksgiving Day parade in Manhattan.

The giant SpongeBob SquarePants balloon appeared, and wild cheers
ensued. But the man next to her was quiet. He turned to her, looking
perplexed, and with a strong French accent asked, "Who is this famous
and large cheese?"
