Default White house menus

I did a quick look on the whitehouse.gov site for menus and recipes
for the current administration and found... jack. A menu from 7/2002
and that was all unless we went into Laura's pages. Anyone know
where to find this stuff?

You probably want to look up senate.gov or .org Senate Bean Soup is great.

I'm not sure Bush Jr. and Laura are big on cooking, although Texas chili &
beef BBQ might be on the list. Certainly not as huge as meals from
Jefferson's era (fried chicken with gravy, baked pumpkin, macaroni &
cheese).

Lyndon Johnson fired the French chef hired by the Kennedys.

She never claimed to be a cook, did she? Besides, I like baked potato soup.
But I'll bet mine tastes better! ;-)

Not at all what I am looking for. Look at this for example:
<url:http://www.whitehouse.gov/statevisit/menu.html>

Where can I find more menus like this and the recipes for the items?

Lovely menu. Have you tried just searching for recipes for similar items?
Forget about it being an official 'head of state' dinner. I found a recipe
for striped bass with lemon and white wine at cooks.com which looks
promising:

3 lb. stripe bass, cleaned with head removed
2 tbsp. lemon juice
3 oz. Chablis wine
3 oz. Seltzer water
1/2 tsp. celery powder
1/8 tsp. black pepper
Salt to taste
1 1/2 oz. corn oil
1/4 tsp. marjoram spice
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
Preheat oven 375 degrees. Use pan large enough to hold fish and line it with
aluminum foil. Place fish on top of the foil and make a border around edges
with the foil to confine the fish. Place all the ingredients on top of the
fish. Bake for 50-55 minutes. Remove and serve. Makes 4-6 servings.

Beef filet is fairly common, as are a myriad of methods for smoking one. I
would have to say patting lots of freshly ground pepper into the filet prior
to smoking would make a "Pepper Smoked Beef Filet". Corn polenta is also
very common, as are grilled mushrooms with summer vegetables.

Again, recipes abound; try not to limit yourself to looking for recipes for
what they prepared for a "State" dinner.

You might not find it on the current White House site (which has had
very few state dinners, incidentally), but you can try to give a call to
a DC restaurant like Palena (202.537.9250), which is run by former WH
chef Frank Ruta, and see if he'd give info about some of his previous
endeavours.

Great! Now that we've all gone and checked out these sites, the SS is going
to be watching RFC now. Everybody watch your P&Qs now!
<paranoid off>

Ok, rather lame attempt at humor but I tried...
