The following is Alton Brown's Overnight Oatmeal recipe. Since you're
diluting the 1/2 cup of half-and-half with 4 cups of water, is there any reason not to simply use, say 2.5 cups whole milk and 2 cups water, or however the percentages work out? Overnight Oatmeal Recipe courtesy Alton Brown Recipe Summary Difficulty: Easy Prep Time: 10 minutes Cook Time: 9 hours Yield: 4 servings User Rating:* 1 cup steel cut oats 1 cup dried cranberries 1 cup dried figs 4 cups water 1/2 cup half-and-half In a slow cooker, combine all ingredients and set to low heat. Cover and let cook for 8 to 9 hours. Stir and remove to serving bowls. This method works best if started before you go to bed. This way your oatmeal will be finished by morning -- to respond (OT only), change "spamless.invalid" to "optonline.net" <http://www.thecoffeefaq.com/> |
