Default What I decided to make

Usually we have something Italian that my husband makes on Christmas Eve.
Then I make something new and interesting for Christmas dinner, then we
have people over somewhat after (sometimes just before) Christmas day and
have another holiday celebration with them. So here's what we're having
for those three meals (which happen to be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday this
year

Friday we're having raviolis. Nice, simple, cheesy and yummy.

Saturday I got a boneless rib roast (is it still a rib roast? ) that I'm
not sure if I'm going to just do the salt and pepper thing on, or if I'm
going to spice it up. It's slightly different than the other couple of
times that I've done rib roasts in that it's got no bones, so technically
it'll count as "something new".

In addition to the roast I'm making Vermont Cheddar Cheese Soup and Matzo
Scallion Pancakes. I'll make a mince meat pie and a pumpkin pie for
afters, and those will last a while for us.

I have a friend in Denmark and we'd been talking several weeks ago about
Dutch food and Bitterballen (which are a sort of deep fried meatball) came
up. I thought they sounded interesting. I wasn't sure when I'd have a
chance to make them, but I decided Sunday's lunch would be a good chance.
I'm making another dish called Slavinken, which is like pork meat logs.
And since I'll have the fryer going anyway, I decided to make hushpuppies
along with those. So it's going to be a heavy, greasy day after christmas
but it's not like we eat like that all the time.

I'll post the recipes I'm using in separate messages.

Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dogs face they get mad at
you but when you take them for a ride in the car they stick their head
out of the window?
