Default Christmas Morning here in Oz..

Hi...All....A 'Happy and Blessed Christmas to my 'Cyberfriends in all of
'God's' world. !...

Here it is a little after 8:25 AM on a not so normal Christmas day !....By
that I mean it is actually raining here in Sydney !...A shame for those
Aussie families that like to have an outdoor Barbeque at the beach side or
else where....It is usual to have temperatures up in the very late 30' and
even up to the mid 40s on occasions !...But the high temps do not usually
phase the folk out that like to cook a Traditional Christmas meal of Hot
Pork ,Turkey, Chickens, Ham, and other mixed varieties as well.....But a
mighty majority of folk seem to cook and eat a lot of Seafood these day's..I
suppose it is the more suitable for our weather conditions....

No 'White Christmas's' for us !

I have gotten up a little after 5 AM to put my 'contribution' to the
Christmas meal..which is being held at my oldest 'Daughter's' home a few K's
away....I do not like cold pork myself so I insist on cooking it in the
morning so as it will not go completely cold for lunch !..We have a cold
meal usually now since my late wife (Helen) passed away !...She was one who
cooked the 'full' traditional Christmas meal each year and fed over 20
people which was no great effort for her !

Well, looking out my window now and seeing the light rain..my hot Pork
sounds great...I can smell the 'Aromas' reaching me from the
'Kitchen'...Mmmmmmm I just turned the heat down now after high roasting it
to obtain a beautiful 'Crackly Crackling'...I may even 'steal' some of it
off after the Leg is cooked....

What are my 'Cyberfriends ' eating today ??

Again..Have a great day (when you all wake up !)

Merry Christmas Barry from Bronwyn on the Gold Coast! Sorry to hear
about the rain - for a change here it is not storming and horribly
humid. Gentle breeze and 80% cloud cover. We had homemade buttermilk
pancakes and berries with honeyed yogurt and bacon on the deck. Check
out my other post (Season's Greetings) for our menu tonight. Cheers!!!

Well, not Christmas here yet. 10:35 PM and getting ready to hit the hay.
Hope that your rainy day turns into one of beautiful sunshine and rainbows.

As for the "eats" here, we're having snow crab cocktail, chateaubriand,
stuffed potaotes and creamed pearl onions. (not traditional, I know but
it works for us this year)

Well it's about 11 P.M. here in South Alabama.
Spent the day cooking sweets, about time for some sleep, Made enough
sweets to put my grandson on the ceiling for about 8 hours.
Dinner will be honey baked ham ( purchased), Potato salad, green been
casserole.( I don't know why but it's tradition)

My brother in Lennox Head wrote me that he's having brunch on the beach with
most of his community. He wrote that later, his wife and mother-in-law would
put together the "traditional" dinner, but he didn't go into specifics about
what would comprise that dinner. (If Christmas fell in summertime for me,
I'd seriously consider making kalua pork on that day.)

There won't be any Christmas feast for me; I'm working all night Christmas
Eve, and as soon as I get off work I'll be delivering presents to my
girlfriend's house. (I don't know if the little one will be awake that hour
or not. It'll be about 7 AM, but it's been cold and foggy here, so maybe
he'll sleep late.) As soon as I drop off the gifts, I'm going home to sleep
through the day, because I've got to be at work again in the late afternoon.
Such are the travails of a military contract.

We've had a bit of rain lately, though not enough falling in the
catchment areas to boost the water reserves back to reasonable levels.
Usually, though, the rain is in the form of a storm, then 5 minutes later
the sun is back out and it's like walking around in a sauna. Yesterday,
however, it was not like that.

The slightly rainy weather was also nice and cool - not the usual
stinking hot, probably humid, Christmas day where we have to have the air
conditioning going all day. Also no smelling the smoke of bushfires. It
was nice, comfortable weather. And for those who like to do the hot
Christmas lunch, it was much more suitable weather for that! We have a
cold lunch - had ham, cold turkey, prawns and salad - with my sister, her
husband and two boys. It was a lovely day.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas day.
