Default Q about remote meat thermometers

Can anyone make any brand recommendations?

I think I would prefer a dual because I would use it primarily on the
grill/smoker for different types of meat.

I have a Taylor and it's working well for me. (Knock on wood) I have a
single probe model though. It has a remote that I keep with me so I
always know that the internal temp of what's cookin'.

I'm thinking of getting a BBQ Guru for temp control. It's a unit that
you adapt to your smoker (A WSM, in my case) and it will adjust the
draft to keep the temp at a particular setting. Not cheap but I hear
that it works pretty well.

It's not a good idea to squat while wearing spurs.

That Guru thing sounds interesting.
Come spring I plan on spotchecking the temps at various places on my smoker.
Just havent figured out the best way to do it yet. lol I figure opening and
shutting the lid to check the temp is gonna throw numbers way off and I
know the temp difference is extreme from firebox side to the other side.

As I said I have the Weber Smokey Mountain. You can see the style of it
at http://www.weber.com/bbq/pub/grill/f...spx?g=2820&t=c

It's got two cooking grates inside. I got two thermometers from Weber
that required drilling 3/8" hole through the unit to mount. Now I have
thermometers at each grate level that I can read without opening the
unit. Works really well.

Here's a couple of links for the Guru if you'd like to check them out.
