I know this may seem silly, but after doing research on both epinions and
Amazon, I still can't settle on a decent 2-slice toaster to buy. For years I have used an old 1950's GE chrome toaster that I bought ages ago at a swap meet for $5. Personally, I don't find anything wrong with it, and I will never get rid of it as long as it works for me. However, my husband hates the thing. He thinks it's unsafe because it's old (it's the one countertop appliance I always have to leave unplugged)... He hates that the only thing we can toast in it is standard size bread... Nevermind that it toasts bread *perfectly* every time, evenly and without burning. So I'm tasked with buying our family an additional toaster that will toast bagels, waffles, larger-size bread, etc etc, and that he won't panic if I leave plugged in after using it. Anyone out there love their toaster? Have you owned it for more than a year? It seems that is the catch-22. People that hate their toasters WISH they would break so they can replace them, and people who love their toasters find that they break after a few months of use. Thanks for your input! Christine |
