In this day and age of, of , well cutbacks and economy measures have you had
a positive experience on an airline lately? Last night returning from my favorite smokehouse in Bentonville AR. the night before I caught the late flight from DFW to Beautiful Downtown Burbank. I asked for and receive an upgrade to first - not bad. After an imitation Martini (Vodka Rocks) there came a salad with romaine halved cherry tomatoes, artichoke hearts, kalamata olives, sliced mushrooms and a nice vinaigrette I chose to have a piece of focaccia in place of the wheat roll. Later their "Low Carb Brisket" Not bad for several slices of tender but well done brisket in a flavorful sauce and mashed cauliflower with cheese. Not great but acceptable and filling along with some red wine. Now the best part - Hagen Das vanilla ice cream with your choice of : Hot Fudge, butterscotch, whipped cream, strawberries, or chopped nuts. I had all of the above except for the butterscotch and a coffee with a shot of cognac. An acceptable (not great) end to a horrid day. The fact that I had forgotten to eat that day may have had something to do with my perception. Dimitri |

Well I hope that the LH stews were somewhat attractive and acted in a professional manner...stews with such characteristics are increasingly rare on US carriers. Screw the food, I just want a relatively professional cabin staff when I fly. What is it with US airlines and their elderly and rude stews? Delta and Northwest are the very worst offenders that I've seen. And whatever happened to the concept of height - weight correlation? I've seen plenty of fat stews - who on earth wants to look at a fat stew? Fat people are tiring enough to look out, but to be working for an airline? These gals make flyig on US carriers a distinctly dreary experience. Some of these girls should have been put out to pasture long ago but heck, the pasture wouldn't even have them... I like the "Singapore Girl" stewardesses on Singapore Airlines - they are quiet, attractive, effecient and deferential. No fat mouthy scowling cabin staff on SQ! -- Best Greg |

Really good. It was about 10 years ago -- I had a new job, and my first assignment was to fly out to San Diego w/ my boss and his boss. As a result of buying my ticket at the last minute, I paid full fare (well, the FAA paid, not me) and somehow I ended up in first class with Lyle Lovett and some of his entourage. Not sure what Lyle had for lunch that day, but he very kindly helped me retrieve my bag from the overhead compartment upon deplaning. Luckily, my new bosses were pretty cheerful about the whole thing. Not my fault they had to sit in coach. |

Why not, other than making it difficult in the aisles. If the job gets done, I don't much care what the person looks like. You said you want a relatively professional cabin staff. These gals make flyig on US carriers a distinctly dreary experience. The last thing I want on a plane is excitement. If you have you rely on looking at the flight attendants to ward off dreary, you need a better book to read. Good thing I brought my own snacks (nuts > and > dried fruits) I remember flying out of Savannah, GA. It was early in the morning, around 6 AM. I was barely awake and frankly just grateful for the brew which passed for coffee. Also if you sit right behind "business class" you get more leg room. But then I was tantalized by the scent of bacon, eggs, home fries and the sounds of silverware clinking on PLATES. I was given a styrofoam tray with a box of dry cereal, a banana and a teensy carton of milk. I was glad I had packed PB crackers and trail mix for the layover in Atlanta. I never fly without snacks. The sandwiches on the Amsterdam to Copenhagen leg were quite good, nice cold cuts on good bread. The food on the Toronto Amsterdam leg was another matter. It was disgusting. My previous flight to Europe was on Air Transat. We paid quite a bit extra for KLM because I didn't like flying like a sardine in a can and being fed crap. KLM, despite the higher price was no better. |
