I was really surprised that Bob (this one) Pastorio has this kind of
sense of humor and posted this so spontaneously. For all we know, he
makes up puns, too. :o)

I miss Jack Schidt's posts and his signatures.

I usually buy mine at our food co-op, also in bulk. Where it's stocked
with the other bulk grains and beans. :-)

Does "sliing" involve some Eastern European booze of some sort...? I'm
not at all sure I've ever sliied. Well, maybe that once in Prague, but
there are no photos left, so I can deny it now.

?? You wouldn't? I like barley. It's good in soup, and it
makes a terrific pilaf. Saut=E9 some onions and mushrooms in
butter, throw in some rice and barley, cover with beef broth
and stick it in the oven. It's terrific.

The barley pilaf works even without the rice. Saute onion and garlic in a
little butter, add to barley with pepper to taste and a little celery salt.
You can use beef, chicken or vegetable broth; cover it and put it in the
oven. 325F about 1 hour. Makes a great side dish.

Heh. I DO have photos of that. Bids...?

Pastorio (and a short video, but it was all blurry trying to keep up
with Barb sliing. Amazingly limber for a senior citizen.)

I wonder if I meant to say I'm slipping. Ya think? Jayzuzz, it took me
a longer while to figure out what you're talking about with the sliing.
.. . I thought you were referring to that evil poison known as
slivovice. Ever hear of another poison called Becherovka? B is
regarded as a "woman's drink" -- it's sweet and clove-flavored. It'll
also put you under the table if you're not careful. In 1990, I was
about four sheets to the wind and had to run for a train in Humenne,
Czechoslovakia. Oh, muther. To make it worse, Niece Jo was asleep in
the bunk above me but had put her fanny pack on a chair or something --
anyway, somehow I took it upon myself to make sure it was safe. She's
sawing logs and I'm keeping one eye open, while the train stopped in
every village between Humenne and Bratislava. Chug chug chug
screeeeeeech JOLT! Chug chug chug screeeeeeech JOLT! Then a woman
joined us at one of the stops and proceeded to peel off her clothes
right at my nose level. BO. Oboy. Chug chug chug chug screeeeeeeeeech
J O L T. Coulda killed Jo. Haven't had Becherovka since. OK, maybe a
couple times. Under supervision. Mama didn't raise no fool.

Careful, Girlie. I DO have pictures of you with your snoot in a wine

Pastorio, tell the story about the obnoxious guy you lined up with
hooker -- but fed him stinking drunk first -- you know the rest.
