Default A storm is a brewing - dishes?

Hi All,
Saturday morning in Toronto. The storm is here! Minus -16C (windchill
-27C) and already 8 cm of blowing snow. Walked a block to the milk
store and quickly realized I should have worn the thermals. There
will be no super market shopping for me today. Time to open the
Christmas gift brandy, actually cognac. I will make do with what's in
the freezer. I'making Keema in the dutch oven on the stove top. It's a
recipe from an Armenian girl friend in high school (hello there
Angelique from Leaside High, which we hated so much!).
ob recipe:

Keema

1 lb ground beef
1 chopped onion
1 chopped green pepper
3 medium potatoes sliced thin
2 tbs ketchup
1 cup frozen peas or 1 cup cooked lentils
2 hard boiled eggs
1 cup beef stock or can of consumme
1 tbs medium curry powder
1 tbs Chili powder (the mix for Chili with the cumin already in it)
1 tsp black pepper (seems a lot but it works)
1 bay leaf
1 clove garlic minced
a pinch of rosemary or basil

Brown the beef in the dutch oven (an electric frying pan works great)
and sautee the onion and green pepper and garlic until soft.
Add the rest of the ingrediants except the peas and eggs
Bring to an almost boil and then simmer with lid on for about an hour.
About 15 minutes before serving add the peas or cooked lentils. Taste
and add salt if needed.
Garnish with finely chopped hard boiled eggs, add fresh parsley if you
have it which I don't.
Serve with a light salad and crusty bread or toasted pitas.
Usually February has the worst weather here, because we're north of
Lake Ontario which retains the cold until March.
Anyway, bundle up.
