Oh, good Gawd...it's not at all comparable. Yes, top-posting
is generally frowned upon, and for the reasons you mentioned
- but it's by no means the same level of faux pas as any of the
above. I'd much rather read a top-posted post than one which
has been bottom-posted by some moron who can't be bothered
to trim the hundreds of lines that have been written previously.
If you're going to be THIS anal regarding posting styles, well, it's
your right - but I would suggest you then simply employ the use
of a killfile or other such filtering technique to protect your blood
pressure; don't go beating up on everyone who happens to
disagree with the degree of offense you feel about this.

You couldn't have hit on what's bothering me about her more accurately if
you tried. Something is quite fishy in Denmark with this 'lucy' ... I'm not
buying.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?

It's not a problem with me. AFAIAC sometimes it is easier to figure out what the
poster is referring to by scrolling down or to check the previous post in the
thread to see what was said than it is to go through several screens of quoted
text from the previous post. I have never been bothered by top posting. I don't
understand why some people get so upset about it. Time for a chill pill or an
optirectomy.

How about *you* pay for all the cooking advice that you were given? Even
the bad or rude advice. Everyone used some of their time to reply to you,
so you owe them, using *YOU* (il)logic.

Please don't top post.

No. I'm not singling you out.

Nicely stated Don...

To any future bleating "Lucy" might post:

Trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin'
Trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin', Rawhide!

Trollin', trollin', trollin', my thoughts are truly bloated
I keep 'em slow 'n sloggin', Rawhide.
Rain and wind and weather, hellbent for leather
Wishin' a brand was burnin' by my backside.
All those things I'm missin', good timin', logic and rhythm
All are waiting at the end of my ride.

Chorus:
Move 'em on, head 'em up, Head 'em up, move 'em on
Move 'em on, head 'em up, Rawhide!
Count 'em out, ride 'em in, ride 'em in, count 'em out
Count 'em out, ride 'em in, Rawhide!

Keep movin', movin', movin'
Though they're disapprovin'
I keep 'em slow & sloggin', Rawhide
Don't try to understand 'em,
Just rope 'em, pull and brand 'em
Soon we'll be living high and wide
Our hearts calculatin' that one true love (an original thought)
'll be waitin' at the end of our ride

Chorus
Hyaa!
Trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin' (Hyaa!)
Trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin', trollin' (Hyaa!)
Rawhide! Rawhide!

It's comparable in "flavor", though not degree.

I've seen this argument too often. Two wrongs don't make a right.
Netiquette says to bottom post *and* trim your posts.

Bob.. thank you for saying so eloquently what I failed to convey!
(Some people prolly are anal because this is their life.)
I have top posted very few times here.. in fact, I was originally trying to
be funny.. but, after all I've seen here so far on this thread.... I much
prefer your attitude.. nobody owes anyone anything on here.

Nancy, you need to go with Don to a therapist, hon. Or.. you can continue
concocting stories in your head as to why I'm *really* here. Whatever you
do.. you must ignore that mothership outside your window. Don't look!
lucy.. who didn't really just search newsgroups for a cooking group.. she
was *really* sent here by aliens.
Fortunately, I just read my help file <gasp!> and figgered out killfile
myself. The group will be more pleasant now.

Damsel, I will fight you to the mat for the honor of being the
Reigning Queen Bitch. Now, back off! I will, however, allow you to be
my Bitch in Waiting <veg>

BTW, Lucy is not going to last with an attitude like that. Trust me.
I've been around this ng some 13 or something years.

Gimme that hat! <stomping on it and stuffing it in the trash> Taking
people at face value is not a fault. Now, sit down a sec and take this
cup of tea and a scone with rasberrys and let's point and laugh at the
Lucys who are going to go through life as utter and complete idiots.

I tried that and found I had killfiled most of the Americans.
Americans are just a hateful, hating people and unless you bow to
their superiority in your posts they will come at you with their hate.
So I just tread lightly, seldom post, and stay away from the worse
ones like that penmark person. My posts have always been trumped by a
hateful American, which this one is sure to be.
