I'm enjoying Jacques Pepin's "fast food" series on PBS, but I've
noticed that he seems to be showing his age, tottering slightly,
forgetting ingredients, etc. It's inevitable for all of us, I'm sure.
But I hope he has the sense to close shop before he gets as far gone
as old Justin Wilson got before the BIG SHOW CANCELATION.

I've notice the occasional omission. However, today I was thinking to
myself that this guy has wonderful knife skills. One thing we can be
thankful for is that his daughter has mercifully been absent for the new
series.

Yeah, he can swing a blade like nobody's business. In his memoir, he
indicates he scored his first TV gig because he wowed them with his
knife technique during an interview/audition session.

I actually got to like Claudine, though many's the viewer here who
disagreed with my opinion.

What has he been forgetting? I made the heavy cream dressing tonight and
everyone raved about it. I thought the red wine vinegar was a little too
strong for it but that's because I've grown accustomed to other
vinegars.

I liked her too. Clan Ranger got the chance to talk to her at a
celebrity meet. She's charming! I'm not sure why so many dislike her.
<shrug> She was certainly easy on my eyes.

I hope what you saw was just a mis-step. It's surprising that his
forgetting something shows on the tape....I thought all the cooking
shows had a prompter who watched what was happening very closely and
alerted the cook to oversights and omissions.

I read an article recently that reported on Pepin's self-designed,
state-of-the-art kitchen built on his Conn. property. The kitchen is
for filming his TV shows, as his wife, herself an accomplished cook,
finally put her foot down about the endless streams of TV crews passing
thru and disrupting -her- kitchen.

Let's hope that the new kitchen sees a lot of use.

He left out onion and something else(I too have forgotten) from one of
his dishes. Likely I overreacted to this. And his unstable gait was
probably due to the effects of that terrible car wreck he was in years
ago.

Anyhow, maybe I was wrong.

<shrug> I doubt it but thanks for the heads-up on some of the recipes.
