Default What are your favorite dishes or meals to cook outdoors ?

What are people's favorite dishes or meals to cook outdoors and what is
it about cooking outdoors in general (if you enjoy it) you love or
enjoy the most ?

Too many dishes to list...favorite grilled items include steaks, chicken
kabobs (chicken marinated in lime juice, oil, lots of garlic, s/p, and red
pepper flakes), salmon (marinated in lemon juice, oil, soy sauce, garlic,
ginger, and green onion), marinated veggies, burgers, pork tenderloin (very
favorite way is to stuff it with a mixture of chopped proscuitto and
provolone--from Ed Pawlowski, I think)...

Favorite barbequed items (note that BBQ means *smoked*, not grilled) include
ribs (dry--never liked 'em dry until my husband perfected his 'qued ribs),
pork shoulder, split chicken breasts (marinated for a few days in cider
vinegar, oil, poultry seasoning, and s/p--just had that for dinner last
night, in fact), and turkey. Still have never tried smoking salmon or
jalapenos yet...

My favorite dishes to cook out doors are any kind of meat, and fish on
the grill is the BEST. I Like to do veggies on the grill too, I usually
use a bit of olive oil or Pam on them and put them right on the grill,
if they are very small I use a grill basket.

I usually have an audience as the neighborhood dogs and sometimes cats
are there to watch and wait, hoping that I will have a moment of idiocy
and toss them some.

Didn't Michael have a dog that grabbed something and ran ?? I remember
a story about that.

All the grill talk is making me hungry, and it isn't breakfast time yet

I remember that story too, Rosie! LOL. His dog grabbed a neighbor's meat
off their grill. Hysterical!

Some dogs can be faster than they look. I remember a party almost 40
years ago of the Marbelhead 505 fleet. We were newcomers, and were
invited to help ourselves to beer in therefridgerator door.

There was a big black dog sleeping under the kitchen table. When I
opened the fridg door, the dog leapt, grabbed a can of beer from the
door, crunched it on the kitchen floor and lapped it up. . . Roar of
laughter from the living room, where the regulars knew this would
happen.

I have no shaggy dog stories, but more than one big black dog stories.
I don't know why.

Ooooh! One of our priests makes a grilled salmon that is to die for!
I need to get the recipe. I could eat it for days.

IIRC, it happened more than once -- one time, it was a large fish, I
think...

Ever wonder about those people who spend $2.00 apiece on those little
bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backwards...

I absolutely love the grilled salmon we make. I marinate it for 4 - 6 hours.
It has the best flavor!

Shish kabobs - chicken breast marinated in pineapple juice, chunks of
pineapple, red bell peppers and red onions with a little olive oil
drizzled over them, mmmm
